Of course Ward would avoid KO loss... He will fake injury or whatever (if he shows up, eventually)...Kovalev's Coach: No Surprise if Andre Ward Avoids Knockout Loss
Although trainer John David Jackson is picking his fighter, IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (30-0-1, 26KOs), to knock Andre Ward out - the veteran coach would not be surprised if the Olympic gold medal winner went the full distance.

That's the reality of it.
Kovalev is the better fighter, but we need to take Ward's home country advantage into consideration. If the ref lets him use illegal tactics, he may survive the 12 rounds, and the judges will score the rounds for him whether he wins them or not. Kovalev will need a KO to win, and there's about a 50% chance he'll get it.Comment

I wonder why Jackson never mentions these concerns? Or even Kovalev himself for that matter. Or maybe they just don't buy into the ridiculous propaganda spewed by a guy on an internet boxing forum. That's the reality of it.

The way he has dominated all his opponents.
He would stop guys like Brand and Barrera, who survived the distance with Ward.
He never needs to resort to illegal tactics, he's good enough to fight withing the rules. Remember when Barrera was coming on, Ward nailed him in the balls?Comment

How many losses does Ward have? Has he not fought the top guys in the SMW division? Beaten them all? So if Ward wins, you will say what exactly? The way he has dominated all his opponents.

Who cares what either trainer has to say. Let me know when Kovalev or Ward start talking, then I'll chime in. I don't want to hear about crybaby referee talk, who the judges will be, none of that. The fans always knows who wins fights like this.Comment
