Whats wrong with that.....you barking up the wrong tree....go tell danny jacobs to fight GGG .....go create some buzz about jacobs not stepping up to the plate vs GGG...GGG is a middleweight and so was Marvelous and Hagler never left MiddleWeight ...In my book Hagler was the Best Middleweight of all time and he unified that division.Comment

When Thurman got hurt the fight was already scheduled like 8 months after either guy had fought tuneups. It really should have happened in November or December of last year.Comment

Well Said..except the Boxing is dying part...I hope boxing doesnt die because NFL and Boxing are the only two sports I followWhat do you expect? You give them a million for each cab driver they fight, then of course they want millions on tougher fights. It's simple economics. But if you start with $50K per cab driver, then it wouldn't be so hard to offer them $300K for tougher fights.

Initial reaction is to criticize the dude. But his stablemate got million for Delvin Rodriguez he probably feel he should get at least that for J Rock.
Of course this fight ain't worth millions but that's the environment Haymon created.Comment

The more I think about this, I don't see Jermall vacating, he will fight Williams.
Article said he wants more money so lets look at the scenarios.
If he vacates and moves up, the only money fight for him (inside of PBC) is Daniel Jacobs. But Jacobs and GGG will be ordered to fight comes September. A fight vs. Saunders oversees would work. But don't see that happening.
So a fight with Williams would have to happen.
Charlo made 500K vs Trout and Austin made 300K. Maybe he's getting less.Comment

Well said and may I add Protecting Boxing Cowards is using hedge fund money... Haymon doesn't have any skin on the game....I am sure the hedge fund wants intrest% on that money.Exactly. Can't believe people even still argue this. You can take it to the bank, any time a Haymon fighter eventually, after years of sparring matches in primetime, has to fight a top opponent, you can expect the negotiations to drag out and the fighter to talk about he's not ducking even though he's already getting offered a career high payday, but how basically "this is a real scary fight and I only want to take it if I get overpaid! Why should I fight the top guys when I was making good money fighting Rod Salkas?" Just like Danny's dad said. That is the Haymon fighters philosophy now because that's how Floyd advises them, and because Haymon has enabled that entitled way of thinking by overpaying his stable to fight bums.
That was how Haymon reeled all these guys in to sign with him. He used the hedge fund to overpay everyone who came on board with him for the first year or two. But that was only supposed to be the strategy early on to get everyone under his umbrella. It's called a loss strategy. You overbid the market, and lose $ in the short term, but as a result of overbidding, you collect the entire market, you create a monopoly, and then once you have control of it all, you make your money back and way more because you control everything.
The problem is, the fighters didn't get the memo. They were used to getting overpaid during the "loss strategy" period, and now that it's time for Haymon to make the $ back with great fights within his stable, the fighters want nothing to do with it. They are used to getting overpaid to fight easy fights. And they've been indoctrinated by Floyd who tells them boxing isn't even about a sport, or fighting the best, it's just about getting paid for no risk. So now even when these fighters do get offered good paydays to fight the best, like Jacobs to fight GGG, they just say well that's by far a career high payday, but why would I do that when I can just fight Quillin twice? It's like I don't know... isn't getting paid more to just have to perform once better than twice? It's like if I said why would I take $100 bucks to do a five hour job when I could get $100 bucks to do a 10 hour job? Well yeah but then you have to work twice as much for the same payday.
But Haymon fighters are so scared of the top guys, they'd rather take the "risk" twice against a power puncher like Quillin than take the risk once against an ATG like GGG, I guess. And you see that every time with Haymon fighters. He and Floyd have them spoiled but hopefully Haymon will give them the message that the hedge fund is running low, and that it's time to make the money back now with great fights, and so the guys who aren't willing to actually fight the best now will be left behind. Either fight the best, or vacate, and you can go back to club level. That's what he needs to tell them.Comment
