I think HBO botched the build up. Everybody was high on this fight after Kovalev beat Pascal for the second time and Ward beat Barrera. Then Kovalev had to go to Russia to get a fight which because HBO wouldn't put up any money. And the fight was shown on HBO on a monday night which got some of it's lowest ratings in years. The Ward fought Brand because HBO wouldn't put up money for a better opponent. They botched the buildup for this fight. They knew both fighters would have two fights. They should've set money aside for both fighters two tune-ups

Both promoters suck so the buildup will be lame. The hope is that the winner can use the fight to become a more household name and bring in more revenue in future fights.

I honestly doubt it. Something dramatic would have to happen in the fight. I'll be interested to see what angle they take in promoting this fight...for now it's completely stagnated.

I think it can be done. Plus the winner will hopefully fight chickenson at some point which will be a huge event in Canada.

Yea...that's true. That would have been much better timing. Hbo's budget issues, and where they choose to spend money is putting a real damper on the sport right now.
