Ward-Kovalev was being discussed last year. A certain group of fans always brought up that Ward should move up and fight him and Ward fans always gave respect to Kovalev. It's now that same certain group of fans that are trying to downplay the fight.

It's very rare, going into these major fights where you see a fan base have so much respect for the opponent and aren't making numerous threads bashing the opponent.

Major props to Andre Ward fans for setting an example and I can't wait for this November 19th showdown.

Kovalev has earned his spot and despite all he's accomplished, he's actually underrated. Went on the road to win his first strap (Cleverly, Wales). Destroyed him. Went into Hopkins backyard and unified 3 titles by beating him pillar to post. Went to Canada to defend against Pascal twice. Smacked him around and stopped him twice. In his biggest fights, not only has he went into hostile territory, but he has won emphatically against the division's top fighters.

Yet some sources (ESPN) still rate a coward (Golovkin) higher than him in their P4P rankings. This "sport" is always good for a laugh or two.

It is rare but not entirely true. I have read a large number of posts and threads on here by obvious Ward fans giving Kovalev no possible chance to win. They talk about the huge difference in skill and how Ward will make Kovalev look like an amateur. They say the fight will be a 120 to 108 shutout in Ward's favor or a Ward KO win. They aren't the least bit respectful to Kovalev. In fact they are contemptuous of Kovalev. They are as disrespectful and insulting to Kovalev as they could possibly be. Two examples of this behavior are posters named BoxingXpert and Tyrone Biggums. I probably have Biggums name wrong and I apologize for that but you know the guy I am talking about. There are others but these two are the worst Ward loving Kovalev hating posters I can think of. They are very racist posters

I would love to have even one tenth the courage, boxing skills and punching power of Govovkin who you label a coward. Kovalev is a great fighter and so is Govovkin. In something like 400 amateur and 35 pro fights Govovkin has never fought going backward or ever been knocked off his feet. Govovkin has always been ready to fight any middleweight in the world for any reasonable amount of money. You can call him a coward all you want but GGG is a brave man and a great fighter just like Kovalev.

There's just something about kovalev that gets everyone's respect. He's loved by all fans from all camps. Golovkin fans usually love him, and Ward fans love him.

he's the neutral choice for the warring parties. I think he's extremely overrated based on skills and resume :-x

                  They're both trolls FFS.

Biggums is Earl Hickey, a white guy from Britain clowning on racist fanboys of black fighters.

BoxingXpert is obviously trying to get a rise out of people on here with his arrogant attitude. I doubt he's serious.

Legit ******s are guys like CaneloMaidana or SugarKaineHook, not the two posters you've mentioned.

Kovalev's resume is good, better than Golovkin's by far for example.

Not really man, not really. Outside of Hopkins there's not much in it at all.... that's what gives Kovalev an edge.
