Comments Thread For: Golovkin: This is Different, I'm Not Doing What Canelo Did!

WBC/IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight world champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) is standing firm in his belief that he's not replicating the recent actions of career rival Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs).

True, GGG wanted nelo at end of the day. Nelo didn't want GGG, he wanted Khan.

Screw that. Now while canelo is a flake and shameless duck, GGG does not get a pass here. It's not as bad, but it's still pretty friggin bad. And you simply cannot trash canelo for taking advantage of khan's china and not trash GGG. Sorry GGG this is a trash fight. Unless by some miracle Brook wins. That would make him the real TBE and he should retire immediately after and claim to better than Floyd, lol!!

There are a couple of huge differences! One, Canelo brought Khan (a WW) to 155, and GGG is bringing Brook (a WW) to 160. Two, many feel that Brook (a WW) will be GGG's toughest opponent to date. Smith ( a Jr. MW) will not be Canelo's toughest opponent to date because he's already faced Trout, Mayweather, Angulo, Lara, and Cotto!

hard to argue with what GGG has said. Although people on this site will try there best to.

... unfortunately, at this moment, the big money fights are easier to make in the UK...

I understand it from a money standpoint, but don't try to sell this fight as competitive or a challenge.

The middleweight champ of the world, supposed P4P #1 is fighting a welter. Aside from money, Gennady gains nothing from this victory.

He's right, it's worse. Canelo took a welterweight up 8 pounds. Golovkin is taking a welterweight up 13.
