Asking for a 50/50 split, as the challenger, against a champion you have already lost to once is not realistic. Especially when that champion has a very real prospect of defending against one of boxings biggest cash-cows. 
Saunders wants what any world champion wants - to hold on to his title and make as much money as he can while defending it.
Imo, people are making too much of a big deal about him turning down a fight with Rosado on Canelo's undercard. According to BJS, the reason he turned that fight down was that he wasn't being offered enough money for it. And it's not like he had to take in order to get a fight with Canelo next. If Canelo beats Smith he'll be going back up to MW, and BJS is the man he'll be looking for.
A better question would be, what do the Eubanks want? They are absolutely all over the place at the moment.
