I think most people are going to be surprised by how easily Ward beats Kovalev. I don't see this fight being close.

Ward protects his chin too good to get ko'd.
kovelev has ko power for sure, but just dont see him dropping ward at all, landing sum good ones yes, knock out dont think so.

So, you haven't noticed how Ward does get hit... every fight? He isn't all that elusive really.

This ***** been real chatty lately. Sounds like he's trying to convince himself that he's not up against it.

Just a bunch of scribes calling him up for comments about the fight. That's how these things work when a big fight is upcoming. As the fight gets closer, you'll hear from any and every boxing luminary imaginable. And JDJ will have been interviewed dozens of times.

Kovalev won't win a decision on the cards in Ward's home country, even if he dominates every round. He'll need a KO/TKO to win, which won't be easy with a ref protecting Ward, and permitting him to clamp Sergey's arms, headbutt, low blow, etc. But I think he'll stop Ward late.

If Kovalev's people are smart, they'll make sure a good ref is in there who won't put up with Ward's typical fouls and grabbing. Deduct some points on him early for doing it. Show him the rules.

The ref will be critical. If he lets Ward hold all night it will make K's job harder. K's uppercut is important. If he can catch Ward early in the fight as Ward darts in to smother K's work it will take this tactic away from Ward. W doesn't have the power to really hurt K. I have K winning. It may well be a similar fight to the Hopkins fight with Ward spoiling but getting caught often enough to lose on points. He probably will be extremely defensive to avoid taking a big head shot so K will have to work downstairs. K's body work is brutal. V interesting fight.

Exactly. I think if anything stops Ward it will be a combination of body shots along with the occasional uppercut. Ward hates uppercuts. And he's been caught with them plenty.

You might be able to stop a guy from holding but how do you stop a head butt, or a fighter hitting on the break?

With a good ref. Deduct some points and show Ward who's boss.

Like I said, Maidana only did it for 4 to 5 rounds, and Kovalev needs to do it for 7 to 8 rounds. Had Maidana been able to keep up that work rate for at least 2 more rounds, he would've won!

No one is questioning whether Maidana won. What I am saying is that the way Maidana went at Floyd, is how Kovalev must go at Ward! The difference being that Kovalev must maintain that kind of pressure and work rate for at least 7 to 8 rounds!
