dana white creates a narrative, gives it an audience and then provides a satisfying conclusion to it by making the fight happen in a timely manner. obviously there's an element of luck as to whether the fight itself will deliver or be a dud, but if you make enough evenly-matched fights then you are bound to get a fair share of thrillers and people will forget about the duds

It's even more than that. The mentality of fighters in MMA are different than in boxing. McGregor originally took the Nate Diaz fight last March on 10 days notice and had the fight at 15 lbs heavier than his schedule fight. His schedule fight was even 10 lbs heavier than his last fight. He lost and still took the rematch at 170lbs. Fans respect that. Who in boxing with McGregor's fame would be pulling risks like that? It's none of this careful opponent selection in order to give the appearance of a flawless record. The refreshing part of MMA is that losing is much more accepted since there are far more ways to lose in a MMA fight.

At the end of the day this is all just entertainment. Neither MMA or Boxers are up there curing cancer. People just want to watch good compelling fights.

Conor took the first Diaz fight because Diaz isn't any good. That hype last night was for a fight that would be like for Thurman fighting Chris Algieri in boxing.

The UFC just has a terrific hype machine. Nate Diaz is a ****ing journeyman and they were acting like he was a prime Anderson Silva..

You don't see a problem with that?

Dana white is the only person benefiting
          Why should we care?

When dos anjos couldnt fight, mcgregor went up in weight and fought diaz in the first fight, not someone useless.
for example who? there really wasnt anyone available this time
