No they weren't. They said they would fight Froch or Chavez at 168 but they never talked to Hearn or Froch. The video was the first time Froch and Loeffler had ever met. If saying you want to fight somebody means you're going after them then Lara has been going after GGG since 2013

Tom must think GGG fans are really ******. Here is Froch on video offering Tom the fight. It had been 18 months since Froch had fought. Froch said he couldn't make 168. Froch offered Loeffler the fight right there to his face. He asked Loeffler what's the highest weight above 168 GGG would be willing to take. Loeffler said they wouldn't go above 168, it's not realistic. When Froch talked about getting ready to meet GGG in person for the first time, Loeffler said "He's gonna be a lot smaller than Carl"

They did of course. Hindsights a wonderful thing but at the time it was an entirely rational thing to do. Who would fight Ward when there was a much more lucrative and easier fight with Canelo / Cotto mandated? Myself I would have much prefered to see Golovkin vs Ward since I never saw the Canelo fight as that interesting anyway, but then I ain't gotta pay Gennady's bills.
