Anyone know what happened with Ortiz & GBP?

Weird ass situation when some smaller promoter is buying out the contract from a bigger promoter for a guy who's within a fight or three of a title shot & a the newly hot & getting hotter HW title at that.

Ortiz had a great thing going with GBP. Not sure why he left.

Would suck if they send him to Russia. He's building some nice momentum in the US. Better for the HW division if they keep giving him some exposure to build big fights in the future.

No he didn't, they had him fighting bums for 50k and only 2 times a year.

The guy was headlining HBO cards and about to fight on an undercard while probably getting a big fight by the 1st half of next year.

For 50k, they offered Miller 20k for a fight. Who cares about being on HBO when you're making less than Rigo?

But but --- Ortiz and his manager say they are very happy with GBP - throwing love at them and shade at Dade - so why are they letting themselves get turfed out into the cold? It's really difficult to get a look-in for title fights if you are not with a bigger promoter. Want an example? Michael Soro of France - can't get a decent fight at MW for love or money yet he is consensus top 15. Another one until now has been Commey - but ok he has Easter coming up - but he's had to wait a long time.
