And don't tell me he was on his way to beating Lewis. Lewis was starting to turn up the heat and Lewis was in his worst shape ever and caved Vitali's face in. People act like Lewis got lucky. It was his punches that smashed Vitali's face in. That stoppage saved his career and probably eyesight.
That's debatable and Lewis should've given him a rematch. And spare me this "caved his face in". A bad cut formed from a punch that landed on an awkward angle.

The rest already described what made him so good(remarkable really what he was capable for such a massive size). You needed to be a big strong man yourself who can take his shots and keep coming forward, just like Lewis did and Sanders before he was worn out. The late Steward knew that you had to make it a tough fight because outboxing him is not realistic.

While I agree Lewis earned the win by tearing up his face, I still give Vitali tons of credit for that performance. But his best win? That is tough, because he really didn't have any great wins. Off the top of my head, I'd probably pick between Sanders, Sam Peter and Herbie Hide

One has to actually study fight footage/vid to answer that..and it shouldn't be to hard...6'7 250 pounds awkward and a jaw coupled with refined skills, and such a great intuitive when a punch is going to be thrown/lean back counter style.... he was a shovel puncher but still had power on his shots which made him harder to hit since he didn't have to lean forward as much into them.....he also took a great punch which will also have to have someone hit him multiple times ...hence never being k.od. It would take a Lennox Lewis at 6'5 83 inch reach to have the distance in most cases...how many fighters have that with actual skill?

character is also important in boxing and he was a warrior...anyone who down plays this guy DKSAB....as they say! And theres quit a few on here

Vitali was a solid fighter, mean and tough but his resume is really lacking to be honest. what is his best win in your opinion?
But Larry. He took the Lewis fight short notice and was leading on the scorecards and stunned Lewis a couple times that fight. He was arguably gonna win if it wasn't for the cut.

Vitali was unlucky, the opposition was lacking... Lewis promised a rematch and then ditched the idea quickly after.. He knew he was gonna lose

He was winning 4 rounds to 2. Lewis was tired as chit. lol@ "lewis was coming on". Thats the same thing people say when Ortiz was down almost every round against floyd before the stoppage, "but ortiz was coming on"

                      what a joke.

It was from a punch that landed while lewis was holding, which is illegal. The same emmanual stewart inside holding strategy that everyone says is boring and illegal when wlad does it but was "crafty" and skillful when lewis did it.
