Gennady Golovkin would hurt Carl Froch - it's a good time for him to go, says Eddie Hearn
Eddie Hearn has advised Carl Froch to avoid knockout specialist Gennady Golovkin and said it would be a good time for the 'Cobra' to retire.

Froch has not fought since his knockout victory against George Groves at Wembley Stadium last May and saw a Las Vegas showdown against Julio Chavez Jr. scuppered by an elbow injury. Having already vacated his IBF belt, the Briton was stripped of his WBA super-middleweight world title last week after failing to secure a defence.
A fight with undefeated Golovkin, who is on a run of 19 consecutive stoppage wins, had been touted as a possibility but promoter Hearn warned Froch against it.
"If you're going to fight unmotivated, given the way he fights, you're going to get hurt," Hearn said. "I don't think anyone would like to see that.
"It's difficult to leave the sport but it's great to leave the sport thinking 'I've done it all' and you can live with yourself forever.
"If you go and have a fight and you lose or get knocked out it will leave you with a bitter taste in your mouth."
An elbow injury prevented Froch from facing Chavez Jr. in what would have been his preferred career swansong in Las Vegas, before the Mexican suffered a shock defeat to Andrzej Fonfara in April.
Froch also chose to vacate his IBF strap rather than fight British rival James DeGale. With Mikkel Kessler's retirement, WBO champion Arthur Abraham facing Robert Stieglitz in July and Andre Dirrell fighting DeGale for the IBF title on May 23, options are few for the 37-year-old.
Andre Ward, the only other defeat on Froch's record, fights Paul Smith in a non-title fight on June 20, so a potential rematch with the unbeaten American would have to wait until after that.
"I think we might have reached the end of the road for Carl," Hearn said. "The WBA have stripped him and it's not unexpected. We were expecting it because you can't just sit on belts. It's fair enough because he's got no fight planned and no fight scheduled.
"As time passes I think it's increasingly unlikely that Froch will ever fight again. Now it feels like it could be the right time [to retire].
"From a fan perspective I'd love to see him back in the ring but as a friend I feel like he's been there and done it. He's going to bow out at Wembley with the win against George Groves, what a way to do it."

If Hearn was advising a super middle never really truest hurt or dropped throughout a distinguished career with recognisable names and a secured legacy, what was it he advised his welter champ whom went life and death with Porter at 147 and has never fought above 154 ?
The hypocrisy is incredible.

He's obviously at least a couple inches taller and Hagler had same day weighs ins too.
"Boxrec heights though"
Boxrec says Tyson is only half inch taller than Hagler.

Boxrec lists Hagler at 5'9 1/2". Google lists him at 5'10". Wiki and Britannica have Marvelous standing 5'9"

Golovkin is not a small MW. Neither is he a big MW. He is a proper MW.
The man doesn't struggle to make 160 like Danny Jacobs, Peter Quillin, Kelly Pavlik - who were all big MW's and moved up to SMW. He didn't start his career at LHW like Bernard Hopkins either.
In 35 pro fights, Golovkin weight has fluctuated only 3lbs! Find another fighter with that many fights where that's also true.- His heaviest ever weigh-in was 161.25lbs!! The man has never weighed in over 2lbs from the MW limit.
- Conversely his lightest ever weigh-in was 158.5lbs!! The man has never weighed under 2lbs from the MW limit.
Like I said Golovkin is neither a big MW like Quillin, Pavlik, Jacobs - nor a small MW like Martinez, Williams.
Andy Lee & Matthew Macklin are also proper MW's (for comparison). Both tried to shrink down to JMW and both suffered from the weight cut.

froch is both jealous and afraid. the only thing froch does better than golovkin is sell tickets. golovkin would have had every answer. carl froch had trouble with jermain f#cking taylor. i was at that fight.
timing beats speed. it beats "slow," too
froch had a great career, but he should shut that big mouth of his unless he's willing to come out of retirement and take a beating.

marvin hagler was 5'9", but he had a superhuman reach for his height.
at 175 he'd have been compeltely outmatched, and more importantly, he had hall of famers who would all eventually move up and challenge him. duran, hearns, and leonard.
