i didnt say they wouldnt remember him, i was saying that list was a very poorly thought out list full of nobodies, bums, and jokes.

lewis is great, how great is not my call to make. but that list that was displayed to give lewis more credit was ridiculous.

Agreed. You could make an arguement for him towards the bottom of the top 10 heavies. But p4p, the guy doesn't break the top 50.

Lewis is not a top10 heavy. I would place him in top 15

        1) He didn't dominant during his prime. Barely squeezed by Holyfield, beat soundly by McCall (twice if McCall didn't break down), and clocked cold by Rahman, hurt badly and wobbled by Klitskho, and ran against Tua when he was the bigger man by 25-30 pounds and atleast 6 inches taller.

Didn't look good jabbing and holding Holyfield. People forget Holyfield won gold medal in 84' at CRUSIERWEIGHT and was the undisputed champ around 88-89'. He didn't become a HW till the 90's. He fought lennox 10 years after winning cruiser weight belts and had 15 year career so he was old but competitive. In 21st century he was washed and way over the hill. Think about this. BOWE looked better against a prime Holyfield than Lewis did about 6-7 years later.

HW's in their prime Marciano, Louis, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Holmes, Bowe, Tyson (before Don King was in the picture), Dempsey, and Holyfield (Pre-Bowe) and a few others would've clocked Lewis's chin clean. Lewis for a big man would get knocked out cold and wouldn't make it up for the counts

Good list...Glad to see someone giving Jeffries credit. I've got him at 13 myself; but my list is always in flux. Having Fitz at 8 is interesting. Why do you rate him so highly?

Fitz had an oustanding career and also was one of the toughest fighters ever. i give mad respect to all the old-timers who fought grueling fights with like 25 and 30 rounds is another reason.

jeffries was awesome, only beaten by jack johnson when he was past his prime.

Huh. Well, Fitz was a toughm hard-punching S.O.B., I'll give him that. Jeffries is greatly underated, I agree and too many people base their opionions of him on the Johnson fight, which is the same as ranking Ali based on the Holmes fight or Louis on the Marcaiano bout.

Lennox Lewis isn't a top 10 IMO. I don't think a top 10 would lose to Rahman and McCall by KO. He was the product of agine competition and thin refutation. If he had gotten a fight with Tyson, Holyfield, or Bowe a little earlier, he would be on this list. I have stated time and time again, Lewis would be a top 5 all time if he had been in Tokyo stopping Tyson instead of Douglas. That would've been the perfect way for his career to go. In exact order:

                  1. Joe Louis
                  2. Muhammad Ali
                  3. Rocky Marciano
                  4. Jack Dempsey
                  5. Larry Holmes
                  6. Ezzard Charles
                  7. Gene Tunney
                  8. Jersey Joe Walcott
                  9. George Foreman
                  10. Joe Frazier
