The flip side to that is something Kell Brook's trainer, Dominic Ingle, and his strength and conditioning coach at Sheffield Sports Academy mentioned: Kell had to severly cut his calorie intake for weeks during training for fights at 147, which affected his ability to train hard. Without worrying about the weight, he can eat properly and train harder for Golovkin, which will make his fitness level higher.
However some guys simply aren't used to carrying that extra weight during an actual fight - they're not leaned out. And then he'll be fighting a naturally bigger man, so he'll need to load more on his shots and he's going to be absorbing more power than he's accustomed too. Add in Gennady's pressure, I would think Brook's best interest is maximizing his stamina.Comment

Isn't there a first time for every fighter that moves up? Where he's never previously faced an opponent who weighed as much?
I don't get it. He's an undefeated, large WW moving up. He's skipping 154, but that class didn't even exist back in the day.
Is he going to die in the ring against Golovkin? Pretty much. But let him take his chance. Nobody at MW was going to fight Golovkin in September.
Let 'em fight. Jeez.Comment

He seems to have problems cutting more weight or believes that he can fight better if he doesn't have to cut more than 10 lbs.
Also he comes from a culture where 2+2 equals 4. I mean, old school, he respects the sport. If you are middleweight, you fight at middleweight. He is not a cheater that would cut 20 pounds to fight smaller guys.Comment

His fight night weight is the same than most JMWs... for example Trout comes in at 171. Canelo at 170-175.

Explain to me how Brook going up 9lb after the weigh-in makes him a huge WW, but Golovkin going up 11lbs makes him a small MW.Comment
