Definitely a double standard. Had he been American, people would have liked him more than Jones and BHop and with good reason. He was much more skilled than Jones and a hundred times more exciting that BHop. And Kessler was a bad dude in his day. No one wanted to support a Viking. Messed up.
Why doesn't Calzaghe get the credit he deserves?

For the same reason the usual suspects consider Deontay Wilder to be a great heavyweight and have nothing good to say about Anthony Joshua, even though Joshua is FAR better and would KO the big jackass if they ever fight.Comment

TimingJoe spent years chasing a younger Jones and Bhop down but they wanted nothing to do with him. By the time he fought these guys his hands were all busted up, and he was a shell of his former self(hence the retirement after the jones fight), yet he still schooled both of these guys. Ward fans always love to bring up the fact that Ward beat Kessler, Joe beat an undefeated Kessler nearing the end of his career, and he did it without headbutting.
Zaggers also beat Eubank, and a prime undefeated Lacy who was supposed to be the next big thing, Zaggers took his soul and career. Lacy was utterly humiliated in that fight.
The super middleweight division didn't become a thing until 2010 with the super 6 and Ward and Froch put it on the map.Comment
