I think Broner made a mistake. Getting wiped out by Pac woudn't have hurt him too much. He's already just that loudmouth that gets whooped when he steps up.

Danny, though, he would have been exposed badly, and it would have hurt his present standing much more than not taking the fight does.

Reasonable points by Berto. Take a little less than you want, still earn your biggest payday ever and go try and win and reap the benefits. Lose and you are not hurt.

This is the same thing I said about the $40 mil, no ppv offer.

They can't even help him out with the financial rut Haymon is in. They take long vacations, can't fight top fighters without asking astronomical amounts of money.

Not sure about Broner, but Garcia is probably holding out for the Mayweather payday. So it's probably a good idea not to get whooped by Pacquiao if there's still a remote possibility Mayweather returning. And fug it, Broner probably feels he also has a chance of landing Mayday.

What is the relevance of $40 mil, no ppv to the current discussion? How is that even remotely comparable to this situation?

I am just pointing out that the points Berto made here are the same points I made regarding that deal. What's wrong with that?

The situations are comparable (just not identical) because in both cases the boxer turning the deal down was set to get their biggest payday in a fight that would maximize their exposure win or lose.

I don't see why you have an issue with my post.

Berto is right that fighting Pac is a better risk/reward ratio for Danny or Broner than fighting one of Haymon's young lions for less money.

So doesn't that just tell you that Danny and Broner aren't planning on fighting any of Haymon's young lions either? Otherwise wouldn't they have taken the better option and fought Pacquiao? They must not be planning on taking either option that involves fighting dangerous opposition then, no?

"Maximize their exposure win or lose." Now that's pretty laughable. Are you comparing Pacquaio's exposure to these two who haven't even carried a PPV on their own once in their career. Obviously you have a right to post and express your views. I can respect that but you also have to be reasonable, my opinion, no disrespect. In light of what we know then, which is that both fighters weren't that much far apart status wise, if you want to nitpick, maybe 1 and 2 or some would say 1A and IB (which Broner or Gracia isn't even to the current Pacquaio) and especially what we know now where both fighters did in fact went on to make huge career paydays, not sure how taking $40 mil would have been a wise decision.
