To me low blow is a faul and there is no making it nicer by saying that this is "a veteran's move" or even praising the guy who fauls the way that ref does not see it. With that in mind I feel that Salido's victory was tainted and as such can't be used as a bargaining chip to get more money for the rematch.
Salido has a solid fan base, is one of the most exciting fighters in the lower divisions, holds a win over Loma, and should be the holder of his belt (he was robbed vs Martinez), yet Loma's team is claiming he's unworthy??

How was his win tainted??? Is see no # next to Loma's loss???
So whose fault is that? As someone else mentioned, there is what someone deserves... and what someone gets. If he wants $1 mil for next fight, when his last one paid him $50k.... merely because it is against someone who he beat, questionably? This also answers itself in his next fight, and more importantly how much he will get paid. If his next payday will be anything less than $500k... then we know he priced himself out against Loma. , it is business too. Maybe he should sign with TR and get paid what he "deserves."
I'll never support the argument that someone should be paid peanuts when they work as hard as Salido does. These are pro boxers who work their but tz off to entertain you... assuming you're a fan. And they have families to support. Just because it's a business doesn't mean a top draw like Salido should just suck it up, get ****** up for not jack, and never complain about it. He should definitely get 500K to 1 mil to rematch Loma. And 50K is an insult to fight for a world title with Salido's resume. He should at least make well into 6 figures to rematch Vargas.
That's not how it works... It's not preferential treatment it's having a great manager that's able to negotiate hell of a deal.
Lomachenko signed with TR in 2013, here is the history of his purses:
His debut vs. Ramirez he got: $100,000
Against Salido he got: $200,000 + $15,000 (from Salido missing weight)
Against Gary Russell Jr., He got a 60-40 split from a purse bid won by GBP. Because the WBO rules have it that if a fight is staged in American, the 'foreign' fighter is entitled to a higher split.
So against Gary Russell Jr. he got: $631,500
Against Piryapino: ??? (Can't find it)
Then on April 2015, Lomachenko extended his contract with Top Rank and ended up on the May-Pac undercard.
His purse vs. Rodriguez:???? (Can't find it)
His purse vs. Koasicha: $750,000
His purse vs. Martinez: $850,000
Lomachenko had a great manager who negotiated a great deal for him. It's not his problem that other fighters have incompetent managers who take whatever is given to them.
If Lomachenko starts giving away huge portions of his purse then every fighter that steps into the ring with him is going to be asking for a piece.
Lomachenko shouldn't have to give away money that he's contractually obligated to make in order to make big fights.
If they're unhappy with is being offered then don't sign the contract. Blame your manager for signing a **** deal, not Loma.
I thought it was around 800,000 to fight that scrub on the undercard.
That is all good for Lomachenko, it creates problems getting name guys into the ring though, because they don't want to be paid chump change while he gets a bigger share of the money. He isn't exciting, and usually fights in that style that people call boring.
what would you rather watch?
loma vs vargas, loma vs walters, loma vs miura, loma vs rocky
or siri vs vargas, siri vs walters, siri vs miura, siri vs rocky?
