If Kovalev was exactly like Ward (fought with Ward's style, used home refs who allowed illegal tactics) and was afraid to leave Russia, he'd be very unpopular.

If Ward was a fearless ring warrior and usually destroyed his opponents like Kovalev has, he'd be the most popular American boxer since Mike Tyson.

Wrong. Critics have said that Ward is the guy was inactive, never leaves home, and a guy who head butts his opponent. Critics have also said that Kov is a guy who put up a pic of **** Erectus when referring to Adonis Stevenson, was exposed a little bit by Chilemba as being maybe past it at 33, and he can't speak in interviews.

Ward and Kovalev are both fearless in the ring. I don't know if the fight will draw the color line, but I do know that you will be rooting for Kovalev. That much is certain.
