Sergey Kovalev vs. Andre Ward: who will you be rooting for?

Kovalev is a racist, Ward is a nice smart guy. I know who we should be rooting for.

Kovalev is not a racist. He has a black trainer, a black cutman, and is a friend of Bernard Hopkins.

Ward is actually more racist, despite having an Irish-American father that got him into boxing while his crack-addict mother abandoned him.

Ward is a selfish, disingenuous prima donna. Kovalev is a honest, decent man.

Kovalev. He has potential to be a huge star. A knockout puncher with a legit meanstreak who is actually talented? Boxing needs those guys. We have seen Wards contribution to boxing. Technical brilliance that wont sell a single ticket outside of his own backyard. I think Ward wins, but Kovalev winning is better for the sport.

Im going to be 'rooting' for Kovalev, because I like his style of fighting. Im a big fan of bis KOs and hard hitting, straight punching style. I do think this is a winnable fight for Ward, though. He has a lot of talent and knows how to fight. I have to wonder if Kovalev is going to hip toss Ward if he clinches, like he did Pascal back in winter. That's how you get in the head of a grabber. I'm really just looking forward to a great fight between two great fighters.

I would have rather seen the fight staged somewhere like London. A truly neutral site. Ward wont get as much credit from some if he wins in the US. Critics will say he got some 'home cooking', and I dont think that would be fair to Ward. Part of me was hoping for MSG, I would gladly make that 6 or 7 hour drive up I95 to see that.

If the referee is FAIR and doesn't permit him to foul, he'll get full credit.

But I honestly don't think Ward can win without illegal tactics - he's simply not good enough.
