I still remember when Savon got lumped up by Frank Sanchez in Cuba last year at the Cuban national championship. Frank Sanchez just defected about a week or two ago too.

Savon chin isn't the best, was hurt badly by Majidov, but in defense of Savon, Majidov is the hardest puncher in the world.

They are my only picks of the azerbaijan team, but Elvin is in the toughest category and Selimov needs to get through Lazaro.

Arlen Lopez is the biggest improvement in Cuban boxing. He started I believe at 60 kilos, went to 64, then 69 and finally 75 where he found his mark. Now he's the best switch-hitter in the game. People thought Dirrell was an amazing switch-hitter. Arlen switches with purpose especially when he is cutting the ring off.
Arlen improvement is crazy, beat my teammate in toronto, i remember that in that time a cuban website put an interview when he was talking about not being a huge puncher in a division full of punchers through history, then he started to take out everyone.

Was saying earlier how I'm sure it is talent back in Cuba that is just as good if not better than most of their Olympic Qualifiers. Frank Sanchez is an example of that I Forgot about him, had no clue he defected, somebody is going to get a STAR whoever signs him, just made his WSB Debut couple of months ago was extremely impressive

I don't follow amateur boxing that closely, who are the biggest threats to Elvin?

But if I remember correctly, Selimov was 2-0 up against Lazaro a few months ago and got stopped cos of a cut, I could be wrong tho? So I'm confident he can get the job done this time around.

Albert Selimov was actually losing that fight against Lazaro, but the judges were still giving him those rounds.

Cheers, I will watch now, I have a very vague memory of the fight even though it was very recent.

Azerbaijan are like the Danny Garcia of amateur boxing, we find a way to win, even if it means accepting a gift

Actually Lazaro boxed his ears off and if it wasn't for the cut he probably would've been robbed. The score was 1-0 for Selimov after the 1st round. 2nd round Lazaro pushed the pace even more and cut him.

PS: I thought Conceicao should've gotten the nod against Selimov in the semifinal too and Selimov is one of my favourite fighters just cause of his skills. But he's been given a few decisions here and there so I won't be surprised if he gets a few more his way

Yeah just rewatched it, Lazaro was definitely ahead, or should've been.

Btw on a different note, that 19 year old Cuban who fought earlier today is a special, special talent.
