I disagree. Ward only has an image to people who follow boxing. Most people who'd see this aren't going to be cruising Groupon for boxing tickets & have an opinion about Andre Ward at all. This would be a introduction to Andre Ward for most people who use this Groupon. These would also be new prospective customers to follow future Roc Nation shows, Andre Ward fights & perhaps most importantly help increase the viewership for Ward vs Kovalev in November.

And what have they done with them? You having to explain to a person who follows boxing shows how horrible they are at promoting. Roc Nation sent out a press release for Luis Arias AFTER his last fight. People didn't even know he had fought smmfh

When K2 were selling GGG vs. Lemieux tickets 2 for $30 and lower level for $50 bucks the week of the fight you didn't see it on Groupon. It wasn't publicized. This is a horrible decision.
Well it's Ward and his promotion's fault. Instead of losing momentum after Froch with bullshit tune ups, he should of given us fans fights with real fighters. I bet you if he fights Kovalev and beats him, he's going to do the same tune up bullshit.

People don't know everything. There are plenty of cats here who don't know the prospects coming up with any promoter (RN, GBP, TR or PBC or whoever) cuz prospects tend to just get moved into position over a period of years as they move up the off TV to televised fight ladder.

And I'm not defending Roc Nation as a promoter so much as seeing how what they are doing with this Groupon thing could (the key word) bring in new fans which is something boxing GREATLY needs these days. I haven't really brought up my personal feelings about Roc Nation overall as a boxing promotion, but if we must discuss it for some reason I think they've had a lackluster run thus far that feels like a more investment money production of what 50 Cent did while he was promoting. That doesn't mean they can't change things up, make improvements or are destined to be out of the game any day now.

but new fans who watch andre ward won't be fans of boxing becaues he's not entertaining. they don't know or care about his "slick" reputation as one of the best. they will simply find something else that makes them happy. they won't go on boxingscene trying to convince everyone how great and entertaining he is when they know he's not. they will have lives.

LOL & valid points. And again I'm not saying this is a super genius idea or not without the possibility of being a failure. I'm just saying you gotta try new **** to bring in new fans & I think if Ward is in an entertaining fight as this showcase bout has the possibility of being as Ward by KO is a legit possible outcome here or there is some fun stuff that happens on the undercard RN could create new boxing fans &/or get new prospective buyers of Ward's PPV fight in November which makes this worth the attempt.

Hardcore ans *****ing & complaining all the time about everything & promoters throwing all the best fights on premium cable & PPV isn't going to grow the sport. I'm pro-anyone trying something different that can bring in new boxing fans & I think this idea has the possibility of doing that to some degree.

Rhianna, Jay Z, Beyonce, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian are all associated with Roc Nation. Why the **** aren't they using that star power to promote the fight? Every Roc Nation boxing match we have to sit thru a ****ty musical performance but the musical end never promotes the boxing end.

hey its the market....you can use the way you like it...

But to me (and this is my point of view only), this make this look cheap.

I look foward to the fight(I'll watch it) and usually this are the type of things I dont care about...but this really is a way to make you look "not that good"
