LOL a groupon for a fight. I mean why not doe? Gotta think outside the box nowadays. Probably one of the bigger problems in boxing is few cats are trying anything new so fair enough lets groupon some fight tickets.
Someone is gonna come along & flip the script with boxing cuz there is clearly money to be made if someone streamlines **** in a better way like other sports have been streamlined. If its Haymon, that billionaire AIBA guy or someone else a decade or two from now who f#cking knows, but sooner or later someone is gonna take advantage of the clusterf#ck that is boxing & be richer because of it.
Probably ain't gonna be because of groupons, but its gonna be because of cats trying new **** for sure.Comment

You get 70% of the price using Groupon. So if you've already cut the price in half and you only get 70% of that price you aren't making any money. Groupon is for growing your business and getting new people to come in. If you're selling a service instead of a good it's worth it. But from my experience Gorupon, Living Social, and Yelp wasn't worth it.LOL a groupon for a fight. I mean why not doe? Gotta think outside the box nowadays. Thats the sort of short sighted business sense most people in boxing are operating under. I don't think Roc Nation is looking to get rich from Groupon or anything ****** like that. My assumption is they are looking to widen their outreach & bring in new customers/fans. As the saying goes the definition of insanity is doing the same thing & expecting different results. Boxing has been getting smaller & smaller over the last few decades. The boxing fanbase has gotten older & older. Boxing needs to bring in new fans.
You can argue Groupon isn't the way to introduce new people to boxing, but the balance sheet of income & expenses has little to do with Groupon being a bad idea. For example I've heard of companies that hire salesmen to sell there product at 100% commission. You sell $50 worth of product & you get $50. Looking at that in the simplest way it makes no sense. The company is clearly losing whatever it cost to make that product. But thats a short sighted look at it. The company knows from prior customers that if someone buys there product once that on average they will sell the same product & maybe a companion product 6 times in the future after that initial sale. So while the company gives up the initial profit they are getting a new customer & getting much more profit on the backend.Comment

For a Dusty Harrison fight, yes. But not for an Andre Ward fight. Promoting isn't just about the bottom line. It's also about image. Having Andre Ward fights selling on Groupon is an image problem. It's not a good look. When K2 were selling GGG vs. Lemieux tickets 2 for $30 and lower level for $50 bucks the week of the fight you didn't see it on Groupon. It wasn't publicized. This is a horrible decision.Thats the sort of short sighted business sense most people in boxing are operating under. They have about a dozen prospects under their banner. Maybe the two most known are Dusty Harrison Hernandez & former TMT member Luis Arias. And they signed notable US amateur standout Darmani Rock awhile back.Comment
