You had regional promoters. So when a band went on a nationwide tour they'd deal with the regional promoters. The east coast promoters. Then midwest promoters, south promoters and so on.....

No such thing as east/west in a sport where funds and viewerships are dwindling rapidly. Why would any network put fights on the same dates in the first place?
