I don't foresee Mikey becoming a huge PPV star, but I'm sure Slick Ricky can do more with him than any other promoter.
Should be interesting to see how things get moving with Slick Ricky on his own now. And I'm still curious about how teamed up he is with PBC? What the f#ck is this tournament thing he was talking about before?Comment

You can brag about being a free agent all you want, but you still have the responsibility of promoting your fights especially if you're headlining the fight. The promoter, most of the time, takes care of everything, which included negotiating for your next fights, venues, network choice, the supporting undercards, organize presscons, which will allow you to focus on your training. So it is not a cakewalk being a free agent, especially if you're not even PPV material.Comment

DiBella won't be replaced because Wilder is one of his guys, among others.Comment

If PBC is gonna be "bigger than the UFC" as Sam Watson has stated with how boxing works they wanna keep a PBC friendly fold of promoters under their umbrella. It allows for more people to sign up talent. Otherwise you got Slick Ricky needing to be promoting a few hundred fighters every other week to max capabilities + flying back & forth all the time promoting big to tiny shows + signing up newly unattached champions & contenders + scouting out the guy who's gonna be the man in 4-6 years. Thats too much work. Throw Slick Ricky in as one of the bigger fight promoters like DiBella or Tom Brown have been doing & thats solid for PBC. All these PBC promoters can fight over position if they want & I suspect they will at some point if PBC does become more popular & stick to get their hooks more deeply ingrained in the business of boxing.Comment

It looks more like DiBella on the east coast and Schaefer on the west coast. It's an old promoting tactic that was used to promote concerts before Haymon took over the game. You had regional promoters. So when a band went on a nationwide tour they'd deal with the regional promoters. The east coast promoters. Then midwest promoters, south promoters and so on.....Comment
