I can see what you're saying and agree to an extent. He does rely on his power to make guys shell. However I think you're overlooking one huge part of his boxing ability - counter punching. He spends quite a bit of time in the early rounds countering his opponents, which makes them think twice about throwing. They taste the power, realize they're out classed, get countered hard a few times and start thinking "oh crap". Watch the first 2 minutes of this video for some examples.I never said he can't box but he's not winning rounds because he's necessarily outboxing guys. His power puts guys in survival mode early on, guys in survival mode don't win rounds FACTS. Some people think Kovalev will win a wide UD over Ward, they don't think it's because Kovalev will beat Ward to the punch or outbox him, they think he will hurt him early and put him in survival cautious mode where he won't win rounds. It's actually easier to control the rounds against a guy you can hurt at anytime. See Kovalev vs Hopkins for proof, tell me that Kovalev wouldn't have been another Shumenov or Murat if he didn't hurt BHop early and put him in survival mode.
It was probably harsh to say he would be handicapped without his power cause that implies he's a caveman of sorts, which I know he's not otherwise he wouldn't be such a decorated amateur but people still get hurt and knocked out in the amateurs.
We can agree to disagree, cause the stats of how few rounds GGG loses don't lie but his boxing ability isn't the only factor and in my opinion it is not the main factor.

Wouldn't put him over Kovalev, Ward, or Rigo. I like TC but he has turned into the most overrated fighter in the game overnight.Comment

Does that even follow, logically. I mean OK if you think that Crawford's the more skillful that's a valid opinion, but how does Golovkin using his power more make him less skillful? Would you judge him more talented if he'd carried a few opponents to a UD12? What Golovkin hasn't shown - yet - is as much adaptability as Crawford and versatility against different styles, but then he hasn't had to.
EDIT - just read the last coupla of posts on the matter which clarify your point a bit more. Not sure I agree but it's it's a totally reasonable take.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 07-27-2016, 11:53 AM.Comment

Kell is 3 years older and Carson Jones and JoJo Dan are his best wins after Porter. So we are crowning Kell off looking better in 1 fight.Comment

Okay so we're gonna ignore the Prescott fight...Good to know.Originally posted by b0xAgain read the post. Crawford beat the top guy in the division above. Lara would be the best guy at 154 with a sizeable height and reach advantage over thurman, or Andrade, take your pick. Broner went life and death with Malignaggi LOL!!! Broner has always been hyped since he beat old ponce de leon (but if you read my post surely you wouldn't be dumb enough to mention him? since I said beat the TOP guy. Not an old past-prime featherfist and go life and death for a split decision LOL). Everyone with a boxing brain knew Broner was too flat footed to be a top fighter. And that's a fact you can take to the bank. You are shameless, cause you have the audacity to reply to something you didn't read properly in the first place.
Say what you want, you obviously don't know enough about boxing to see why Crawford is one of the best in the sport. It will get harder and harder to deny it though, especially when he keeps on beating people. You obviously didn't learn from the fight, even though before-hand you told me you thought it was a 50/50 fight, and I told you it wasn't. LOL.
What does anything you just said have to do with Postol being better than Broner?
Broner/Paulie was about as close as Crawford/ Beltran....So what? One was jumping two weights....Tell me, who's better Paulie or Beltran?
You are talking about Crawford now as if you're some genius....I was talking about him back when he beat Prescott, standing in front of him in the pocket. I've been a fan since then, so save that nonsense.
You are just a loser , acting like you know something because you picked the favourite to win.Comment

Good watch, his boxing ability is definitely underrated but people can't act like his power is a non factor. I still think Crawford is the more talented fighter but GGG has skills too.I can see what you're saying and agree to an extent. He does rely on his power to make guys shell. However I think you're overlooking one huge part of his boxing ability - counter punching.
