question: why do ward fans make fun of 97k when he's never headlined a ppv himself?

He should have not offered to go to 168.....he got what he asked for
Moments after outpointing Bernard Hopkins by majority decision for the WBC and Ring Magazine light heavyweight titles, Chad Dawson immediately called out Andre Ward to fight him next. “I would love to fight Andre Ward,” Dawson (31-1, 17 KOs) told HBO’s Max Kellerman. “Bad Chad” then shared he could "get down to 168" or make it at 175 pounds if necessary.Comment

Basically this. They bragged about being on PPV, how mauch of a star he was, and how much he'd sell. It flopped. They went nuts.It has nothing to do with Ward. It has to do with obnoxious little GGG fanatics saying he's a star, big-money, A-side, good-dog, yadda yadda yadda.
97k pretty much stuffed a sock in their mouths.
Few people want to see GGG do poorly, but a lot of people are offended by Lemieux being sold as a PPV headliner, and a lot of others are tired of hardcore ggg fans going off about how everything he does is perfect.
97k was a healthy dose of reality.Comment

It would of been PPV in this day and age. 2012 was still good for HBO so they could afford it, now guys like crawford already get ppvs lolLooking back on ward's career, I'm kinda shocked hbo didn't PPv the dawson fight..
Ward was coming off the super6 win, and dawson was coming off beating hopkins.
168 champ vs 175 champ,, both in their primes
That just shows no one has faith in andre Ward as a legit superstar...
A star, just not a superstarComment
