question: why do ward fans make fun of 97k when he's never headlined a ppv himself?

It has nothing to do with Ward. It has to do with obnoxious little GGG fanatics saying he's a star, big-money, A-side, good-dog, yadda yadda yadda.
97k pretty much stuffed a sock in their mouths.
Few people want to see GGG do poorly, but a lot of people are offended by Lemieux being sold as a PPV headliner, and a lot of others are tired of hardcore ggg fans going off about how everything he does is perfect.
97k was a healthy dose of reality.Comment

I posted a similar reply and they just ignored it....It has nothing to do with Ward. It has to do with obnoxious little GGG fanatics saying he's a star, big-money, A-side, good-dog, yadda yadda yadda.

Go back and read the Lil Ginas predictions for PPV sales and how they were bragging that Lil G was a draw.

because ward is an insignificant annoying bug who won't go away. he ran up two entire weight classes to avoid ggg but luckily for us he will get stmped out by kovalev in a few months. then he can go away for good.Comment

Same reason mayweather/ward fans try their best to down play ggg. It's an extention of the floyd pac fan beef, and mostly the same idiots. It's pretty sad to hate on a fighter just cuz his fans piss you off.Comment

The thing is, anybody can headline a PPV if the network choose to make it a PPV. That is not an achievement. The achievement is actually selling a good amount.
At the end of the day, Ward hasn't been in a big enough fight to warrant a PPV, but neither has GGG yet they made a PPV event for him. Like Crawford v Postol, that really is NOT a PPV fight. Yes some will buy it, but it shouldn't be one. Even Ward v Froch was much bigger than any GGG fight, and they were still smart enough to realise it probably wasn't a PPV fight then, but it would be today because they're trying to push PPV in peoples faces for fights that aren't worthy of PPV.
I honestly believe a PPV event should only happen for genuine big top quality fights. Ward v Kovalev is fine for PPV.
I'm a GGG fan by the way but no way should any of his fights been a PPV.Comment
