Maybe the audience that GGG brings makes that money? Same for Ward who is fighting no hopers.

Ward will get around the same $2 million mark give or take for his upcoming fight against Brand as well.

Clearly HBO is willing to pay for subpar Golovkin fights because they think or at least though that was building to a huge Canelo fight. Likewise with Ward, they buy poor fight with Brand because they are building towards a big Kovalev showdown.

It absolutely sucks for fights like Postol vs Crawford though, legit unification fights that really aren't even that expensive to buy.
Ward and Kovalev fights have a purpose. They're trying to build up Ward & Kovalev for a PPV. That's why they chose to broadcast a Kovalev fight on a Monday night and Ward's next fight is a single card fight. There's a method behind HBO's madness.

Golovkin can keep raping hbo for 2M fighting no hopers no reason to ever take a challenge

It's pathetic but that's what you get with "the prize fight" mentality instead of "the best fighting the best at their best". HBO's budget in boxing is shrinking because they don't see results in terms of audience because fans are not stupid and they want the best.

Keep that "price fighting" mentality and PBC will flop and HBO will stop investing and then boxers will get paid less than UFC fighters and the biggest fights will be held in ballrooms.

These purses seem reasonable. Nothing crazy

If by "no hoper" you mean Canelo, Jacobs, Bjs, etc... yes, I think those no hopers should man up and face ggg.

It's the same reason HBO is paying Andre Ward fighting no hopers like Brand - clearly HBO wanted a Golovkin-Canelo super fight just like everyone else in boxing wanted to see it happen so it made perfect sense for HBO to buy his mandatory fight against Wade, but unfortunately Canelo pussied out in the end and dropped the belt. Fortunately for Andre Ward, Kovalev is no Canelo, or vice versa (Ward is no Canelo), so that fight is going down, hence HBO paying ~$2million purses for Andre Ward against some no hoper.

Plus, stop acting like you have amnesia and have forgotten Golovkin has tried to fight Canelo, Saunders, Jacobs, et al.

HBO has been weaksauce for a while, if they want to stay involved with boxing they need to change something up because the issue is only growing and it is hard to see how they don't say **** it soon without some sort of commitment either in terms of investing more capital or trying different ideas than how they have operated in the past.
