Ward will get around the same $2 million mark give or take for his upcoming fight against Brand as well.
Clearly HBO is willing to pay for subpar Golovkin fights because they think or at least though that was building to a huge Canelo fight. Likewise with Ward, they buy poor fight with Brand because they are building towards a big Kovalev showdown.
It absolutely sucks for fights like Postol vs Crawford though, legit unification fights that really aren't even that expensive to buy.

Keep that "price fighting" mentality and PBC will flop and HBO will stop investing and then boxers will get paid less than UFC fighters and the biggest fights will be held in ballrooms.

Plus, stop acting like you have amnesia and have forgotten Golovkin has tried to fight Canelo, Saunders, Jacobs, et al.

HBO has been weaksauce for a while, if they want to stay involved with boxing they need to change something up because the issue is only growing and it is hard to see how they don't say **** it soon without some sort of commitment either in terms of investing more capital or trying different ideas than how they have operated in the past.
