Even if there were no attractive 160 pound opponents, Golovkin's team could have attempted to find an opponent at 154 or 168 instead of immediately making an offer to a Welterweight. That is the problem a lot boxing fans are having. Brook's team did not make Golovkin the offer, Golovkin's team brought this fight to Brook. There's a difference. That being said, now that the fight has been agreed upon, the WBA issue is just a formality.

So, in the most unlikely event Brook were to win the fight he would not capture the WBA 'Super' title without Golovkin begging for permission to have it sanctioned, and all because Brook has never boxed at middleweight and because the WBA is the self appointed guardian of boxers' integrity and health. This is the same bumrag organisation that had no qualms about Roy Jones Jr, who had never boxed above light-heavy, going in with John Ruiz for their heavyweight crown.
