So, in the most unlikely event Brook were to win the fight he would not capture the WBA 'Super' title without Golovkin begging for permission to have it sanctioned, and all because Brook has never boxed at middleweight and because the WBA is the self appointed guardian of boxers' integrity and health. ruiz took care his mando before the jones fight after beating holeyfield. jones was doing something only 3 fighters in history of the sport were able to do. and jones was the betting favorite at 9-5 in a fight that generated 500k ppv and the purse was around $15mill here in the states. there was no super or regular champ around that time either, bc the next wba title fight was an interim fight which led to ruiz vs oquendo for the actual belt. it made sense for ruiz to be able to defend vs jones after taking care of his duties as a champion. at one point there was 4 shares of the wba title at mw sc rc interim and interim-interim lol big difference.
