Unfortunately for the bs statement/theory that GGG was concerned about his IBF mandatory defense when his camp turned down the Ward offer right after Golovkin vs Lemieux was signed and announced.......
1. Golovkin wasn't the IBF Champion yet so worrying about being stripped of belt you do not own is ridiculous.
2. The IBF mandatory eliminator bout between Johnson and O'Kane was announced in August but the Golovkin vs Lemieux was announced in July and the actually fight was on the Golovkin vs Lemieux undercard.
This clearly means that when Golovkin turned down a future Ward fight, not only did Golovkin not have the IBF title, so no mandatory IBF concerns, but there wasn't even a mandatory IBF challenger at that point because that wasn't decided until Tureano won on the exact same day Golovkin won.
Hmmm???

1. GGG-Lemieux was already made when Ward made his "offer". K2 knew that if they beat Lemieux they would have to do either an IBF mando, or a unification fight next. Period. End of story.
2. WHO the actual opponent was going to be is irrelevant to the fact that a mando was due. If there was no number 1, then the IBF moves to number 2. If there is no number 2, then they move to #3. And this is exactly what happened. After GGG beat Lemieux, Johnson was the #1. When the IBF notified him to commence negotiations, he withdrew with a shoulder injury. The #2 spot was vacant, so they moved to #3 which was Wade, who accepted the fight.
let it go already.

I can't believe what I read on here sometimes.
Golovkin is not even close to a throwback fighter.
He has not done a single thing EVER, to even suggest that LMAO
They talked like he was a throwback fighter, sure.....

And only 2 ahead of GGG?...2 boxers in the entire world is above GGG?...most boxers could only dream to reach such heights. But he needs to justify it more.Last edited by JUNIABOY; 07-20-2016, 05:28 PM.

As for Sanchez belief that Canelo was never going to take the fight? Well, thats fine. Alot of people believed that. But it doesnt matter what people "think", you still have to go ahead and let the process play out. And now GGG has the WBC title, which he would not have if he had accepted the Ward offer......
Your whole premise..... that Golovkin is " too busy " to fit Ward into his hectic schedule, is fkn ridiculous.
He has never had a truly meaningful fight, EVER..... and there are no meaningful fights in his immediate future...... NOTHING!
Your " oh no, we are too busy to talk to Ward " premise, would only work if Golovkin wasn't fighting cans.
Every excuse you can think of..... has not happened, so is irrelevant.
Also, Tom Loeffler has stated on numerous occasions that he works 2-3 fights ahead with Golovkin..... which would have been perfect instead of either Wade or Brook..... and could have been slotted in around a potential GGG/Canelo fight..... which did not even eventuate.
Immediately after ruling out Andre Ward, they fought Wade then Brook..... so yea, it really is a no-brainer.
And insinuating that Golovkin is better off with a vacant WBC belt rather than a win over Andre Ward..... is a little remiss to say the least.
What Golovkin did was.... he attended the prom, but when approached by the prom queen to dance Golovkin stated that his dance-card was full..... the problem is, he did not dance with anybody else, he just sat in the corner by the candy machine talking to the fat girl..... WTF?
