Man you guys are some real GGG haters. Ward made Dawson come down from LHW. You guys forget that huh. You also forget Ward fought at LHW in the Olympics. He's a true LHW. The was no problem for him to come down at fight GGG at 64. If he really wanted to fight him, he would've met him in the middle. GGG isn't a big MW, he's really small. No one would fight him at 54. Dude had to fight at 60. You cats makes me laugh when y'all talk all this crazy GGG hate talk. Triple G won 350+ amateur fights and Gold in the Olympics. I'm a Ward fan as well but you have to be real. Go back and watch the GGG vs Rosado fight. Listen to how Ward spoke on GGG. Ward knows GGG is the real deal and GGG knows Ward is the real deal. Respect GGG for trying to collect all the belts. If Saunders grow a pair, maybe we'll see GGG move up to 68 faster. Canelois a hctib for doing all that talking and dropping down to 64 instead of fighting GGG. I respect Brook moving up to fight him. Fight going to do good numbers.

Ward didn't fight at light heavy in the Olympics because he was a true light heavyweight. He fought there because he and Dirrell were in the same division. And since he was the better fighter, he simply fought above his natural division, and still took gold.

I want Golovkin to stay at 160 till he breaks BHop's record. The reaction to that at this site will be fantastic!

The thing about Hopkins record is, he made 75% of those defenses without anybody really giving a ****. And it was because the competition was so bad. Only after he beat Tito did any of that **** matter to folks. And GGG's string of defenses are against significantly weaker opposition that what Hopkins faced. He needs a signature fight. And for him right now, that means going to light heavy and beating the Ward-Kovalev winner. I mean, even after the wins over Tito and DLH, a lotta people still weren't sold on B-Hop as a true ATG. Tarver is what cemented him in a lotta people's minds.

It is if you have to lose 13/15 lbs of water to make your fighting weight. You then rehydrate back up to your natural weight.

Golovkin can't put on 13/15 overnight though because the IBF have a 10lb overnight rehydration limit for all their title fights.

Fighting weight and natural weight 2 different things.

He's acting like Golovkin is 24 and not 34, he's been wasting his time he should have moved up after Lemieux fight

I agree the Lemieux fight was the perfect time to move up instead of wasting away at 160 fighting the Wade's of the world. At that point he could of jumped up to 168 and fought a Froch or someone of that caliber but instead he will be fighting a WW.

All Golovkin's defences of the WBA title are 100% legit. To any fair minded fan, that is, which rules you out, of course.

The WBA were bribed by Felix Sturm's promoters to reintroduce a "super" title at MW and award it to Sturm to allow him to avoid fighting GGG, who had been his mando for 2 years.

The WBA broke their own rules by doing that. Their "super" titles were supposed to be awarded only to unified champs, and Sturm wasn't a unified champ.

GGG has been the WBA middleweight champion since 2010, and all his defences since then are legit.

Golovkin's " defences " back when he was the interim " champ "..... were as legitimate as Jacobs "defences" are now..... 0.

That is about as ****** as crediting Pacquiao for winning a FW title, despite the fact that did not. Beating Barrera in a non-title fight, does not magically award Pacquiao a featherweight simply because you feel all warm and gooey inside whenever you look at your Pac poster..... and by the same token, Golovkin's INTERIM defences do not count as legitimate defences, just because you got that creepy man-love thing going on.

he is no where near a record..would be in his 40s in order to break them.....20 full title defenses of an alphabet title (no regular, no interim dont count)...14 lineal title defenses is the record by Carlos Monzon

But the thing is this.....

1) even if some modern-day scribes recognize his "reign", most will not..... and in the future, Golovkin's run of defences will have a big asterisk next to it.

2) it comes down to 1 thing..... WHO you fought, with consideration given to when/how...... and that is all..... and no amount of ***wittery will cover that up.
