Is Arreola at age 35 the worst HW world title opponent ever?

Can you think of anyone worse? I can't.

Fat, faded, no longer has a strong chin, slower, weaker. Struggled (arguably LOST) against a clubfighter recently. Tested positive for banned substance.

Why didn't Deontay Wilder find someone better, even if it meant waiting another couple of weeks until someone decent is ready?

Those who voted for the third option (many worse) please name some of them.

Arreola wasn't even ranked by ANY sanctioning organization when Wilder chose him.

It's pretty bad. Maybe not worst *ever*

I mean, it's not like he had someone better lined up and then they had to put a stop to the fight because that person failed a drug test.

WADA recently said Povetkin didn't fail.

And let's not forget, Arreola failed a drug test this year.

He's a crappy opponent. As for "worst ever", I'd have to do some research.

I get what you're doing. But Wilder was about to go to Povetkin's home to fight him. The willingness to fight good opposition may not have always been there, but it at least appears to be there now.

The fact that this fight is happening, and that one isn't, is not Wilder's fault.

                He failed just not enough.

I remember Wlad fighting a literal Samoan truck driver.

He'd have a good chance at someone like Mormeck, and surely would beat Marvis Frazier.
