    I like how meldonium is the new scary PED... You guys realize it was legal for 50 years and some people want the ban overturned because it's stimulant benefits are comparable to caffeine?

    Caffeine was formerly on the WADA list but removed. Creatine is another grey area substance.

    Like 90% of boxers are roided to the gills and survive drug tests using masking agents (which occasionally backfire and are detected themselves) but we're suddenly very worried about some heart medication female tennis players take, think everyone is a "meldonium-fueled maniac!!! He on that A-side meldonium!".

    Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha. It's like getting in a street fight then running away because the other guy takes a puff of his asthma inhaler. DAMN HE ALL DRUGGED UP! NO WONDER PEOPLE DYING! People are so ****ing dumb.

    If you're worried about PEDs address the rampant steroid/masking agent issue. The guys on meldonium were at least trying to obey the (recently changed) rules.

      I'll quote my previous post;
      The Guardian says that the founder of meldonium "had previously authored an abstract to a sports science conference in which many benefits of meldonium were promised, including enhanced aerobic capabilities, endurance performance, and recovery."

      "A 2002 paper from researchers at Tbilisi State Medical University in Georgia found the drug has a positive effect on the physical working capacity of judokas"

        I didn't think Bellew won either fight. First fight was Chilemba clear, second fight was closer but imo Chilemba won that by a couple of rounds too.

          I'm not arguing that it has SOME benefits. If it didn't have some benefit nobody would bother taking it, although it seems its main benefit is post-workout recovery, similar to ALCAR, which I take.

          It was legal for several decades and always mentioned alongside creatine was one of those "grey area substances". You don't take meldonium and turn into Kovalev. It's not Trenbolone.

          All the sudden (mostly political stuff having to do with USA vs Russia) meldonium is this huge concern... Hilarious

            It was legal for decades because, according to WADA, they were not aware that it was being used for performance enhancement until recently. Their guidelines include several criteria, including whether people are using something for the sake of enhancing athletic performance (their criteria, not mine, argue with them).

            Research on the substance in sports applications is poor and WADA can't afford to fund it.
