... tbh, back then, Marvin Hagler fought a whole bunch of Jr. Middleweights...

Little floyd had the chance to really be great but he was a chicken and avoided all risk.
Garcia was offered the fight and wanted more money. Watch Hearns interview - yeah they'll fight Brook, but they want so much money the fight can't be done - Hearn isn't going to work for weeks on an event to lose money is he. These fighters have to realise they're not all Mayweather, and $2-$4m plus PPV is fùcking good money. They end up fighting cans for $1m instead.

None of Haymon's other cotton wool wrapped WWs or SWWs would fight Brook after he beat Porter. That's one reason he's had to jump all the way up to MW to get a big fight.

You can also spot biased posters by the way they ignore important facts that don't fit their agenda. Like the fact that Canelo mislead K2 into believing that he wanted a voluntary defence before Golovkin so he could acclimatise himself to fighting at 160 against a genuine MW ... then fought a WW at 155 instead.

If this article was a post in boxing history, the writer would have been severely "owned"

            - Hearns had been the 154 champion for 3 years when he fought Hagler, quite likely the bigger man in the ring, and hand not made 147 in 4 years.

            - Leonard won the 154 belt 6 years before fighting Hagler and last weighed in at 147 5 years before fighting Hagler.

            - Duran had been campaigning above 47 for 3 years and had just won a 54 belt when he faced Hagler

Basically, the premise is bull****e, making the conclusion bull****e too I am afraid. Sorry Mr. Fitzsimmons. No other way to cut it.

I dont have a problem with this fight really if Golovkin couldnt get BJS or Eubanks to fight him, we know Canelo isnt going to get in the ring with him. Welterweights have been moving up to middleweight since the dawn of the game. You mfers ever heard of Sugar Ray Robinson? Guess where he started, thats right he is probably the baddest mfer who ever fought in the ww division then moved up and won the mw title 5 times. This isnt glass jawed Amir Khan we are talking about. This is a undefeated Champion looking to make histor and a MW champion giving him a shot and trying to make some money.

But, Golovkin takes this guy out inside of 5.

Leonard, Duran, and Hearns actually had a legacy to consider when they fought at middle weight. lil g and Brook have NO legacy to consider in this travesty. That is way it is taking place. This is a MONEY fight NOT a legacy fight.

Hagler loved smaller men but they were legit greats.
