No,not Ring rankings. I'm referring to "best welterweight" as the thread title says. Brook winning a close fight against Porter 2 years ago is the ONLY relevant thing he's ever done. You're taking that over everything Garcia and Thurman have done?? I think Spence knocking out Algeri is more impressive than anything Brook has done, and I'm not even sold on Spence.
Let's not hide behind rankings here, Kell has done very little compared to Thurman, Garcia, and even Bradley. By the time he gets his next WW fight he won't have had a legit defense in 2.5 years of being champ, and that's IF he finally makes a legit defense.Comment

Based on his skills and other people retiring. He beat Porter when Porter was #4 behind Bradley, Pacquiao and Mayweather. Brook was #5 at that time.
Two of them has since retired and one has gone a little down hill.
Perfectly reasonable to have him #1 as no one else in the division has really done much against the other top 10 ranked fighters. He has the best win out of anyone in the top 10 outside Bradley, so it's quite simple. Plus he's the longest reigning champion in the division.Comment
