Comments Thread For: Brandon Rios: I'm Free, My Top Rank Contract Has Expired
According to former WBA lightweight champion, Brandon Rios, as of today he is a promotional free agent after spending his career under the Top Rank banner.
The reality is Brandon Rios would never make the money he's made under any other banner. He fought in-house fighters, not necessarily the best fighters and made a lot of money. He'll be a gatekeeper if he goes to PBC.

Now, he's got the options to see if that is right or wrong; he's not a world beater at 147, but he's got the ability, if he can get all the way into shape, to make for really interesting fights, especially 140/147.
Even as a "PBC gatekeeper", Rios has Broner, Figueroa Jr, Algieri, Provodnikov, Molina Jr, Ricky Burns and a host of other solid guys 140/147 (admittedly not at the top of the food chain) to work through for solid fights.
Rios is 30 years old, has had a lot of tread worn off of his tires, and has already made some good money; if he's physically right, I don't see how he can't get another 5-6 good fights, at least, in before it's time to walk away.
Yes please on the Rios vs Ortiz fight like everyone is saying. And it should be about even as f#ck at this point with both guys being beaten down a lot from their best days although I doubt Ortiz passes the post fight drug test cuz he's smoking weed 24/7 on snapchat lately.
So he's going to sign with Haymon im guessing? I would love to see him against Alfonso Gomez, Guerrero, Kamegai, Ortiz, etc. I would NOT love to see him used as an opponent, but hey it's his life.
