His wreckless demeanor has interfered with his craft as evident by his weight fluctuations and failure to improve his technique. As for him being praised by moving up weight division - BS. He outgrew those weight divisions. Remember how he when he fought Escobedo he comes in at 133.5 and refused to try and lose the weight b/c he had the politics behind him? Then he mocks Escobedo after the fight with the fake proposal - that's a good summary of who Adrian Broner the fighter is. Just like they had Shawn Porter agree to come down in weight, only for Broner to fail to make that weight. They were going to have Shawn agree to a rehydration limit before that. Typical Broner, given all the opportunities and always taking advantage of politics behind his hyped up name.

In converse, Golovkin's been ducked & avoided by the other MW title holders like Sturm, N'Dam, Quillin, Martinez (not to even count the pretend MW's Cotto & Alvarez). He offered to fight Froch at 168 in the UK, offered to fight Barker in the UK for free, signed to fight Pirog when Sergio wouldn't. As far him only fighting at MW, find another fighter in all of boxing who's maintained their weight within 3lbs over their entire career, with atleast 30 fights?
Well, that's a very accurate post.

That being said, GGG lacks A opposition on his resume, but he has done A performances in the ring.

The Geale win is underrated, Geale beat Sylvester, Sturm, Karmazin and Mundine, not that bad. The man was 4-1 against world champions when he faced GGG, and only lost twice by SD.
GGG obliterated Geale in 3 rounds.

Same for a prime Murray, Murray arguably beat Sturm and Martinez and fought SD with them.
    GGG destroyed Murray.

GGG is obviously leagues above guys like Sturm, Martinez or Abraham who were more than decent world champions.
    That's why he's regarded as P4P material.

Geale and Murray had at least the b@lls to take the bigger challenge at 160.

GGG IMO beat everybody at 160 and 168 since Ward left.
I think Ward would beat GGG based on style and size, Ward is size above GGG wich should help him to control GGG's agressiveness.

When a great boxer puncher faces a bigger great counter puncher, shlT can ends bad, remember Mosley vs Wright, Trinidad vs Hopkins, Pac vs May.

Broner was way too big for those lower divisions and stayed there until he absolutely could not. Why does that deserve credit? I also don't understand why people give him credit for fighting good fighters, as if Golovkin is turning down the Maidanas and Porters at MW rather than the other way around. And let's not forget Broner not only fought Porter at a catchweight, he tried to impose a rehydration limit too, but scrapped it because he was too big to make it himself.

There are fighters you could use to argue against Golovkin, but why they insist on using Broner I don't know. He is not some example of taking on big challenges that puts Golovkin to shame. Ward moving up to fight Kovalev, that is a good example. Stick to that, Golovkin haters.

Right exactly. Plus, if you turn pro at 18 years of age, chances are you're still going to do some growing and fill out as you age, versus a guy who turns pro in his mid 20's and is already fully developed physically. We know around the same age Golovkin was a light welterweight, so if he would have turned pro at 18, he would have worked his way up three or four divisions by now, but he didn't, was an amateur a lot longer. For example, when Gennady was 18 years old in the year 2000, he was a Light Welterweight Gold Medalist at the World Junior Championships in Budapest, Hungary. If he turned pro then, he likely would have began his pro career at 140 and worked his way up to 160. But he turned pro at 24 years of age, 6 years later than Broner who is physically maxed out at 147 pounds, which goes to show if Broner turned pro at 24, he would likely have already been a welterweight.

He's an abrasive asshole during most of his interviews. He throws cash around like he's a king and everyone around him are peasants. He's admitted to doing gay porn. He put a guy in the hospital & robbed him over a fucking bowling bet. Nobody's criticizing his boxing resume, they're hating his lousy character.
what exactly does this have to do with the question about boxing that the poster asked? people do actually criticize him as a boxer and his resume.

Because people can't remove their feelings (good or bad) from their views in sports like Boxing (and a million other things). It is the same reason people cling to the view of Ali being the greatest of all time... because they love him... not because he is the best boxer who ever lived (which isn't even a thing worth thinking about as it is devoid of reasoning). Accept the fact that people are flag wavers... people lack independent reasoning and critical thinking and latch onto things (like teams, persons, nations, religions, nostalgia) and defend those things to the hills, whilst slandering the opposing flags/positions. It is a tribal, inherent trait in those who's minds have not yet awakened. Just don't worry about it and let people think what they wish... as long as you have the ability to think and reflect about the world independently, then the opinions of others should not effect you, as long as you know truth and reality, nothing else matters.

                  • Broner moving up was like Ward moving up. They got fat and it became impossible for them to stay at their respective weights. No one forced them to. Even then moving up didn't require them to fight the #2 P4P in their first fights.

And who ducked these guys? Even Guerrero wanted a piece of Broner at the height of his popularity. Mediocre Bute wanted Ward...

Maybe because GGG would brutalise Hagler?

And you don't really see much Broner criticism anymore - the kids found his level - he was just hyped beyond his abilities. Also he behaves like an asshat, hell, likely there's some folk who don't like him just because he's black, but if GGG falls on his ass against the likes of Porter or Maidana dya think there ain't gonna be many on NSB gloating just as hard?
