I said that Haye is one of the best ever CW's, which he is. I never claimed that he was the GOAT.

I dislike the man, but i give credit when it's due.

    Here is my original post.

have these casual's/spastics never heard of Evander holyfield ffs?

triangle theory > Carl thompson > david haye

        Johnny Nelon > Carl thomspon

therefore Johnny Nelson > David Haye.
He's not the GOAT because Holyfield is the GOAT.

But Haye is one of them at Cruiser which again is a testament to how weak the divison is historically.

For cleaning out the division & being heads and shoulders above everyone else there.

Many boxing publications including this website have Haye as a top 3/5 all time CW.

By Cliff Rold - Follow the sweet science long enough and even a passing fan will hear, with sounds of awe, about an ‘original eight,’ about a bygone era when the sport’s weight classes were limited to just that number with (usually) just that many World champions.

if he had just squeezed in a cunningham fight somewhere in 2008 then his CW legacy would be beyond question. mormeck was old but he had just avenged his loss to bell in a good fight (although he ran in the championship rounds). i don't blame haye for taking on enzo first, it was a big money fight and after all he did have a belt, but i remember telling everyone what a mismatch it would be at the time. if he had just made room for cunningham in the summer and beaten him he would have been undisputed and it probably would've been the best win in his career (remember how much kudos adamek got when he moved up and took the IBF?) but then it's entirely plausible that cunningham would've in fact beaten haye, which i guess was the crux of the decision to ignore him

i definitely remember calls for haye vs. cunningham here on NSB at the time btw. so there were some people who cared

Please, let this thread die Mlac. Haye is receiving warranted credit, can't you see what you've done?!

He was one of the best cruiserweights but cruiserweight used to be 190 with same day weigh ins. I doubt Haye could have made the weight in the early days of that weight class.

I think Holyfield was a better cruiserweight.
