Comments Thread For: McCrory: Golovkin Takes Eubank Apart, Murray Beats Eubank!

Former world champion and Sky Sports expert analyst Glenn McCrory believes Chris Eubank Jr. (23-1, 18KOs) will take a beating if he steps in the ring with WBC/IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs).

All these 'expert' guys said Fury ain't got a chance. They're all sheep just like 90% of Boxingscene members.

Comparing him to Martin Murray actually devalues any opinion worth having.

I have to agree with McCrory on this. Chris Jnr is not ready for a monster like Golovkin. I also think the MM who fought Sturm, Martinez and GGG would almost certainly have beaten Jnr at this stage of his career.

I don't think he compared him. He said Murray beats him!

He's a big big MW who can compete with the worlds best. Do not dismiss him. Beating CEJ who is as yet pretty unproven still is not beyond the realms of reason.

Glenn normally chats rubbish but I agree, GGG will put a beating on Eubank but let's be honest, Jr beats Murray, if only because of his superior engine.

What's Murray done to prove he's "world class"? Lose four world title fights? The most recent of which he lost in convincing fashion (Abraham and GGG)? Plus another loss to Groves? Eubank would beat him pretty convincingly.

I don't view Jr as "unproven". He had a very close fight with Saunders, who went on to beat Andy Lee. And Jr has undeniably improved since then, he's at least 20% better.

So, yeah, if Eubank could push Saunders close, and Saunders has gone on to win a world title and beat a top name like Lee, I'd say Eubank is at least somewhat proven. I wouldn't say it's a stretch to suggest he would be competitive with Lee, Jacobs, Quillan, Korobov etc, based on what we've seen from him since Saunders.
