Mayweather and Pacquiao might help boxing some but they are both very rich, very old fighters who needed to retire so they did. Great fighters who stick around too long start getting beat by guys they would have beat with ease in their prime. Boxing has some excellent stars in their prime like GGG, Ward and Kovalev to name a few. Boxing has some excellent younger guys getting better all the time like Crawford,Sante Cruz, Spence, Canelo and many more. The main things I think are hurting boxing is champions and top fighters fighting only twice a year or less and good fights that should happen not ever happening.Comment

Boxing would certainly be better if Pacquiao returned because we know he'd fight top guys. Mayweather would just muddy the waters and in an age when it takes a year to make a Thurman/Porter level fight, we don't need that.
We already have Cotto, Canelo, Lara, Charlos and co ***** footing around top opponents.Comment

before we were all interested in the possibilities and watching welters to see if they had anything that could trouble may pac and cotto,they're all done now,i know people like crawford and other new stars are great but I have no love for them and couldnt care who they fought next,however i will watch but I wont be pissing my pants with excitement like i was before the bell of Cotto/Pac,Hatton/May,Pac/May

lol Eubank vs GGG is probably the fight I'm looking forward to atm and that would be laughable a few years ago to be excited about(not the actual matchup,jusyt to be considered exciting)

I blame the promoters and networks for the copious amount of no-hoper and showcase fights. Anthony Joshua shouldn't have a belt right now. The IBF maneuvered that into happening and now, with so few fights, he can kick around one tomato can after another to build to a bigger fight and no one will argue. Wilder is a complete product of this system since he's fought virtually nobody and was even knocked out against some tomato can, but the footage is gone I've heard? I don't know. Either way, he's been showcased his entire career as well. The whole lot of them have to a degree. Provodnikov and guys like him are great since they'll fight anybody, but they're never going to be stars either. The whole "Protect the '0'" thing is what's crippling the sport. Guys are supposed to win and if it's against ordinary opponents, it doesn't matter. They still get paid. I honestly don't see how some of these cards make money. it's quite ridiculous. Golovkin has been ducked over and over to the point of being handed belts. Now, that's a low point for sure. The problems are all outside the ring. There's plenty of talent but we won't know who's the best very soon or maybe ever. All the belts hurts a lot. You can have a guy like Brook win a belt, take it overseas and cherry pick every opponent and stay champion until doomsday and there's nothing anybody can do about that. Just like Hamed got the WBO crown and kept it overseas while avoiding number one contender Marquez for two years. Now that's a fault of the organization, but it happened and we never got that fight. Politics. I'd love to see all of these guys fight each other, but it's a pipe dream at the moment. They showcased Roy Jones against lesser guys during his prime years and they've done it with one prospect after another. The legends like Duran, Hearns and Leonard got to be legends by fighting each other and the other great fighters of their time. The guys today aren't doing that because they don't have to or simply can't make those fights happen. It doesn't make any sense and unless there's some magic money fairy in the sky, I don't think it can sustain very long. Maybe our woes will fade in a few years when the money dries up.Comment
