there's nothing left for him at 160 lbs once those fights are done. they were talking "unification" when it was a process that involved a fight withe the biggest draw in boxing. what's really left to do at 160 if that fight is no longer a possibility?
Canelo is going to have BJS fight on his undercard to possibly setup a 160lbs WBO title fight (I guess Canelo does want a MW title after all?)

As for Jacobs, K2 did make Danny an offer and he rejected it. (starts after 1min)

As for Golovkin moving up to 168, DeGale/Jack aren't even fighting until November now. Rameriz & Arum are saying next year. Groves is still rebuilding himself and has a title fight later this year and Callum Smith is still in prospect mode. There's not really anyone else. Golovkin's a legit MW. His entire career has been amazingly fought at a 3lb range of 158.5 to 161.25. I'd rather see him stay at MW, but take a couple high level SMW fights as one off deals. Eubank, Khurtsidze, Derevyanchenko are interesting enough fights while he waits for Alvarez, Saunder, Jacobs, DeGale/Jack, and Rameriz. The WBC is working with the WBA & IBF to have a tournament for the winner to face Golovkin for his future mandatory.

      I don't know, I give up
We should be counting from when Golovkin held the sole WBA championship, so Rosado onwards, so 11 defences.

Still not sure what the point of the exercise is though. As with Hopkins, most of the defences are fairly pointless.. nothing but a number.

Holding every title in the division is impressive, because its extremely difficult to achieve. When was the last Undisputed champion, 2006? A decade ago. He should be striving to achieve that, defend a couple of times if he wants to, then test the waters at 168 unless middleweight heats up during that time.

It is what it is. For whatever reason, Golovkin can't get middleweights in the ring with him. He's not the first or the last to deal with this problem, and the best move for him is to keep trying to conquer his division.

It won't be easy, not with the rest of the division's top fighters just as scared of him as Alvarez is, but he has to keep grinding along and fighting whoever is willing. Even if, unfortunately, the only one willing is a prospect.

What was the offer??? The usual $500K??? We all know how CHEAP K2 is! Fk GGG barely just started making over $1 million. You think they're going to pay Jacobs? I'm sure they offered him "LIFE CHANGING $$$$" but was actually $600K.

before attempting to compare Golovkin to Hopkins, the writer should do some research..... Gennady only defended the WBA interim title, which did not even exist during Hopkins era..... he wasn't even the top ranked guy within the WBA, so how can you count those fights as official defences?

..... knowledgeable insiders will not overlook such details, this was sloppy inaccurate journalism, and badly lacking in specifics.....
                ^^^^^anything to pump up his thin resume...he a killa doe...he top 3 p4p doe...no elite opponents...thats pathetic...2/3 belts he didnt fight for.

He is doing exactly what Hopkins did....camp out in a thin division..make alphabet defenses against horrible mandatories and expect a more proven fighter who was champion at higher division at the time to comply with his demands (roy jones/ward)

Im unifying doe, I want all the belts doe..............translation: He will take calculated risks until he has to ...he wont move up but he will fight smaller guys coming to him...i.e. canelo at full 160 but is willing to fight the biggest star at a catchweight...mayweather at 154

Its incredible that GGG doesn't take the A-side position, even though people will watch for him. Its not like these contenders are gonna get the same attention as GGG.

Ummm. He could of had that last belt for anotehr $2.5 million. Ain't saying Saunders is worth even $1 million. In fact I think he SUKS! But if it's about legacy and owning all the belts. They could of met somewhere in the middle. They offered $1.5 but made it seem like it was at LEAST $4million. Loeffler in an interview flat out didn't say YES or NO when asked if it was $4million. In the interview he made the authoer believe it truly was $4. When in fact is was $1.5. Those are FACTS.
