Golovkin does not need the Mex Canelo for anything at all Zip

Canelo is a bottom feeder who gives Golovkin nothing but a win over a smaller less talented Mex who is scared of GGG. GGG should ignore the frightened scared little Canelo-yellow and just make his legend as a true Middleweight champion. Canelo is afraid of the GGG challenge which is the norm for all mexicans. Mexico has never won a war or accomplished anything of note in the world ever so screw Canelo-yellow and all his low fan base of tequila swilling taco eating poor mex's.

GGG should seriously consider moving up to 168. Arum and Ramirez will hype the fight, and May would be perfect! There's DeGale, Badou Jack, Chavez Jr., and Callum Smith available. Of course there are no mega-fights like Sergio Martinez, Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez, or Andre Ward, available for GGG. GGG should just ask himself: "What would Bernard Hopkins do?"

No longer will his next assignment have to carry a sidebar of it leading to a potential fight with yet another top boxer unwilling to face him in the near future.

            sloppy sports journalism, unfortunately.....

before attempting to compare Golovkin to Hopkins, the writer should do some research..... Gennady only defended the WBA interim title, which did not even exist during Hopkins era..... he wasn't even the top ranked guy within the WBA, so how can you count those fights as official defences?

..... knowledgeable insiders will not overlook such details, this was sloppy inaccurate journalism, and badly lacking in specifics.....

Now he just needs to focus on getting good fights for the next year.

Something like Eubank in Sep, BJS in Dec and Ramirez in May would be my preference.

I agree with you, attempting to muscle/manipulate Canelo was utter ******ity.

Having a reasonable HONEST negotiation was the only possible option, K2 are totally inept..... but yea, it would mean that Golovkin was going to have to live up to his hype by backing up all that **** talk..... so yea, the fight will never happen.

I would bet my life, when reflecting back upon Golovkin's career that "anyone from 154-168" talk will be proven utter rubbish..... I don't believe they will even attempt to live up to that hype, not once EVER..... wouldn't be surprised at all if Golovkin finishes his career at 160 having beaten no genuine world-class opposition.

Hopkins only moved up to 168 when he lost all his titles to Jermaine Taylor.
Also Hopkins was 40 year old when he moved up in weight and Hopkins is much much bigger and taller than GGG, just crazy that he could drain himself that long.

Also at 168 there is no opponent ready to face GGG.

Zurdo wants at least 2 more fights until he is ready sometime next year.

DeGale + Jack both have still not agreed when and where they will have their unification fight and that could still take easily another 6 months, so neither of them will face GGG before 2017.

Why would GGG move up to 168 now?

all mentioned have nothing to do with GGG. Chavez was okay but got drilled by the best same with Juan Marquez just a good little mex nothing special and Oscar a good business man was a weak fighter in every big fight in whick Oscar got beat down and faltered. GGG is so far superior to Canelo it's not worth a fight between the two. GGG KO's Canelo yellow.

defend a second-rate INTERIM title against C-level opposition for 10 years?

                    I don't know, I give up
