I actually don't mind this. It's Garcia's turn to face a top 5 welterweight. If he can win, then we can get this showdown next year.

IMO, to be considered a champion nowadays a fighter should both look to unify and punish his mandatories. Like GGG, Kovalev and Wladmir Klitchko.

Well the Thurman vs Garcia fight happening next year goes out of the window if Garcia fights a top 5 guy.. Surely he won't fight top guys back 2 back.. & considering that these guys fight just 2 times a year is even more a downer..

Shoot if i was advising Thurman. Id advise him to straight up ultimately dedicate his next year and a half to making the biggest and best fights possible. He does that and the boxing world is his and money would be flowing like the Amazon River. He just got a great win vs Porter, now follow that up with Garcia in late October-November, then do the Brook-Vargas winner in the spring, and then in september 2017 with a Porter rematch. He does that and comes out on top, can you imagine the position he would be in?

Not a fan of this bs mandatory. A W over an ancient, shadow of himself Shane Mosley shouldn't be getting anyone a title shot. It sounds like if he doesn't fight this guy it'll be curtains on his title doe so outside of a not very likely unification I think we're destined to see a bs mandatory defense.

Agree. This is a problem for many PBC fighters. They have a good W & then they do f#ck all for their next fight or two or they don't fight for 6-9 months & the momentum they had is lost. Big fight, easy fight, big fight, easy fight can make some sense for the fighter, but it don't make sense for building a fighter into a bigger name known by the mainstream sportfans. You gotta be more active &/or fight more big names.

In fairness to GGG all the tough defenses don't want the fight cuz "GGG scary" & scary guys = 2x-5x your normal payday or nah gotta marinate the fight til GGG is 37 years old.
