  • Comments Thread For: Froch: Golovkin Rejected Terms, I'd Walk Through DeGale in 5 or 6

Carl Froch insists he has no plans on making a comeback despite claiming that he would "annihilate" anyone in the super-middleweight division. The retired former world champion was full of praise for Tony Bellew's WBC cruiserweight title triumph at Goodison Park last month when he became the 13th current world champion to hail from the British Isles.

Carl is quite a bitter person. Degale fought hard for his title, beating someone who Carl arguably lost to. Give him props and unless you're going to fight him, shut up about smashing him. The only person who is smashing faces at the moment is Degale (although somewhat unconvincingly of late).

The thought of a prime Froch and Kovalev makes me gush! Shame its untenable now.

        Just enjoy retirement, Carl.

You can't blame GGG for not taking it at 172, that's 12 pounds above his weight limit, but at the same time, "anyone between 154 and 175!" Didn't they say that? Maybe it was just 154 and 168. But whatever, you can't blame GGG for not taking the risk, but at the same time, what else is there for him? If he's so good, or at least he was a year or two ago, maybe now he's getting old, but at that time, if he's so good, and I believe he was, he should have just done it. Beating Froch 12 pounds above his weight limit, in front of 80,000 UK fans, would have been a legacy fight for GGG and made him a huge star.

            So much BS.

DeGale beat prime Froch, not this past prime version.
He never offered anything to Gennady. I was following every Hearn interview at that time. Carl didn't fancy it at any weight..

Kovalev... give me a break. He would kill Carl.

I don't know why can't he just relax and enjoy his retirement.

Froch just spoke like a true champion. A champ always feels like he can beat the other guy. I'm also glad he made it clear that even though he believes he could win these hypothetical fights, he is not coming back.

I also don't blame K2 for turning down that offer. An older Froch at 172 would be too much for Golovkin. I'm not sure Golovkin could handle Froch at 168 3 years ago.

Kovalev/Froch would have been a proper watch the fight through your fingers kind of fight.

                No thanks.

I think Kova is a bad match up for Froch.

He's bigger and maybe slightly quicker.

I think he beat him by TKO in the 10th, dominating 7 rounds to 3.

Must admit that it was Froch's destruction of Bute that got me back into boxing and he was a great fighter to watch but let's get real here - KOVALEV. FFS, that Russian monster would have eaten him alive.
