I have to agree with xaret on this one. I think the guys actually is Filipino, either that or he has balls of solid steel to have 20 losses and give himself that kind of nickname while living in Mexico at this moment in time.
Just for the record, the Filipino Fly champ was not the only Pancho Villa in boxing: there were at least 12 others. There was one each who fought out of Winslow, ME; Portland, Or; New Bedford, MA; Las Vegas and Weeks, NV. There were two out of California and one out of Canada. There was a South African, and, there was a Guyana native. There was also a Venezuelan. The ethnic origins and exact addresses of the rest were indeterminate. Most of these fighters fought between 1919 and 1955, although in 1992, one of them climbed the ring once, lost, and never climbed the ring again. The Filipino was the first, on record, to use the nom de'guerre.
Another Filipino took the name "Little Pancho Villa" and fought with that monicker thrice (1-2), while four others styled themselves as "Young Pancho Villa". One of the four fought soon after the first Filipino champ died (between 1928-29) but did not have a very successful career start and soon quit.
Also one of the four was a Spaniard who sometimes styled himself as, "Lou B. Camposano." In a fight held in 1930 in Reno, NV, Young Pancho Villa, aka, Lou B. Camposano, refused to climb the ring as the latter, in spite of the nagging of promoters. He was facing a Filipino named, "Young Villa" and promoters feared confusion. Later, the Filipino consented to change his name to "Kid Manila" for the duration of the fight, which ended in a draw.
BPP do you happen to have any contact information for mr. ronnie natahanielsz, we'd like to hear from him?
transaltion : BPP meron ka **** contect info kay ronnie nathanielsz may gagawin lang kaming di maganda...
I don't, Rick does, but I doubt he would give it out. Some of the pinoy users were brutal on Ronnie during that whole legal mess between Murad and Manny. I doubt Ronnie would even get involved on the forums.
