It seems like Gomez is just trying to get back at Arum for making Canelo-Smith public before they were ready, there's probably nothing in it. Maybe Pac faces a Haymon fighter but Danny Garcia seems like it would be a bigger fight and more competitive. If the Thurman/Porter winner looks great in a big fight on national TV they'd have more buzz than Broner as well.

I'm not sure why Arum publicly took issue with Canelo's career choices. Of course GBP could've handled it better but Arum, Haymon, Hearn etc. all have guys who have vacated before.
