GGG should've offered to fight Canelo @ 155. If Canelo agreed, GGG would have his legacy fight. If Canelo backed out, then he could never recover! Would 155 put GGG in a disadvantage vs. Canelo? Maybe. Would 154 put GGG in a disadvantage vs. Mayweather? Absolutely! So now GGG has no Ward fight, no Cotto fight, and no Canelo fight! That's disgraceful! Maybe GGG should re-consider and fight B-Hop @ 168!

Are you daft? Kim is a huge Tom Loeffler supporter. I just accused him of wasting a potential hall of fame career, something no boxing promoter can ever make up for. He will go down in boxing history as a failure who contributed to the decline of boxing. How is that anything like what Steve Kim says about Loeffler?GGG should've offered to fight Canelo @ 155. If Canelo agreed, GGG would have his legacy fight. If Canelo backed out, then he could never recover! Would 155 put GGG in a disadvantage vs. Canelo? Maybe. K2 has done a horrible job of making fights and public relations. "Anybody from 154-168," "Ward is irrelevant," "Ward @ 164, but Chavez Jr. @ 168," "GGG is NOT a business man," etc. I think GGG would be better off with Arum or Haymon! K2 could fix this with the next fight...Erislandy Lara! It would be less lucrative because Lara has less fans, but it would be the best fighter that GGG has faced thus far! Either Lara or a title shot @ 168, would do the trick! Eubank Jr. is NOT getting it done!
Meaning, does Lara actually want to fight GGG, or does he just want his name talked about? I think Lara wants a big payday, not to fight GGG. If he can get a big payday against GGG, he will do it, but here's the thing, Floyd/Ward/race boxing fans kept saying Quillen didn't need to fight GGG because GGG had no fan base, Floyd didn't need to fight GGG because GGG had no fan base, it was cool for Canelo to duck GGG because "GGG don't call no shots he ain't got no fan base 97k buys," and so on. So let's just be consistent then. GGG has no fan base. Lara has even less fan base than GGG. So how are two fighters, one with no fan base, one with even less fan base, going to generate enough revenue for Lara to get 3 mil for the fight or whatever he wants?
That's the reality Lara fans and anti-GGG race fans don't want to deal with. Of course, there's some hope due to the fact that they are full of isht, and GGG does have a fan base. But Lara really doesn't so is Loeffler going to overpay him to get him in the ring?
That's Loeffler's problem, he's all about the $. Lara may not deserve it, but what I'm saying is he needed to start paying up anyway, even to fighters who don't deserve it based on their marketability, to get GGG some legacy fights, and he needed to do it years ago. So whatever the reality about Lara's marketability, I totally agree with you, they should make that fight anyway. I'd be excited for that fight compared to what we've gotten recently, so that would be a nice step up, although remember, David Lemieux is way better than Lara.
What they should have done was made GGG-Ward a year or two ago, but at that time Ward and GGG were both on the HBO gravy train fighting nobodies, and neither Ward or Loeffler wanted to risk that gravy train. Finally HBO took Ward off the gravy train and sent him to BET until he was willing to fight someone, but by that time GGG was already on the Canelo path.
It's really the networks fault. They have been enabling fighters like Ward and promoters like Loeffler to take no risks, just like Showtime has been enabling Al Haymon. Both the networks are to blame but just like Loeffler, they don't seem to care about the sport, just the $. They are using the business model of frustration. Show amazing talents in total mismatches on their base channels for so long that boxing fans become incredibly frustrated, then finally make a nice fight on PPV, banking on the fans being so frustrated and starved for a good fight that they will overpay to finally see it. It's all about the PPVs now, not good fights, not legacies. They are willing to trade 3 or 4 years of useless fights on their base networks, ripping off their subscribers, wasting the primes of the athletes on their networks, which many of the athletes are happy to go along with for the easy paydays, if it culminates in one successful PPV where they get their cut of the $. Both networks are guilty of this, and where fans view Mayweather-Pacquiao as a disgrace, they view it as the blueprint for their new business model.Last edited by Boxing Logic; 06-23-2016, 07:21 AM.Comment

Omg.. can one get any more moronic than that? Boxing illogic blames Loeffler for not selling his own house/chopping off GGG's right hand to get Canelo/Cotto/whoever in the ring, Bronx compares Canelo to FMM... Canelo a legacy fight? after his bout with glass-chin WW boxing putana Khan? and near-loss to the washed pinky businessman having 15-18 pounds advantage? A piece of advise for your personal growth: look at what GGG was in 2013 and what he is right now. Not from your moronic perspective "he no fight Ward", just facts what he had and what he has.
I'm a GGG fan, and I blame all the duckers first, but that's still incredibly disappointing. If Loeffler had the same attitude as Abel Sanchez, I would be more okay with it, but Loeffler seems totally happy for GGG never to have a legacy fight! He was practically apologizing for Canelo! It shows he's only after the money too. He doesn't care if GGG's whole prime is wasting building up the Canelo fight, which isn't even that great of a fight, because he knows as long as he gets that one fight, he will get his money. That's what it seems like. He doesn't care if GGG only gets one decent fight his entire prime, as long as that one fight delivers the $ for him. As a fan of GGG that's incredibly frustrating because I want to see how great he can be in multiple legacy fights during his prime, and now it's becoming obvious that even 5 years after coming to US soil, which it will be after fall 2017, Loeffler still has no urgency or plan to get him those legacy fights, and is in fact apologizing for the fighter ducking him because all he cares about is keeping Canelo's side happy enough to deliver the big PPV payday a year or two from now. Whether it costs GGG the rest of his prime waiting for that day, he doesn't seem to give a ****.Last edited by Boxing Logic; 06-23-2016, 07:23 AM.Comment

At this point I would like to see Lara just because he's never been routed or convincingly beaten, he presents a new style, and he's on some P4P lists. I still think the people who thought GGG was ducking him, or that GGG would have any problem with him, were crazy, but Loeffler has done such an awful job, Lara would actually be an improvement. I hope we see that fight next, but remember fighters like Lara do use fighters like GGG to keep their name relevant. Saw the same thing with Ward when he was out. You have two very boring fighters with styles no one wants to watch using GGG as a way to latch onto someone with an exciting style and leech some of the fan interest that creates.
Meaning, does Lara actually want to fight GGG, or does he just want his name talked about? I think Lara wants a big payday, not to fight GGG. The only one who showed interest in fighting Golovkin after the fight was Canelo - and we saw how that turned out.
So I don't take Lara's interest seriously - if he came out right NOW ... that is before the Eubank fight gets signed for and said he wants the fight for this September then I'd be more inclined to give him some credit. Same with the Eubanks - if they or Hearn are pushing for the fight next Tuesday or Wednesday then they need to be taken seriously.
If Lara was a true MW or SMW he'd probably cruise to a boring points win over Gov. but he is too small and chinny to survive 12 rounds.Comment

What has irritated me here is Loeffler is acting as an apologist for GB. He should have just said "you need to ask Oscar what the latest is" - I mean, WTF?
That said - it is all about the money. So don't slam any doors shut. But Sanchez is obviously right - the time is now!Comment
