A mismatch is a mismatch.....Ward vs Bland is a mismatch....GGG vs wade was a mismatch.....GGG has never fought an elite opponent so why act like you're upset about Ward's opponent....Dont remember anyone saying a thing about GGG fighting "House Arrest" Wade

difference is Ward moved up a division, won all his title in the RING at 168, and will be fighting the people's champ at 175 in Kovalev this year

all the while GGG fans are prepared to defend the next mis-mandatory, crap on the decent fighters who do call him out like Lara and eubank, then K2 settles on a no name we have to google...rinse, wash, repeat and you'll eat it up...its been 34 fights and this guy has never fought an elite opponent...its pathetic
I was talking about Ward because of the thread topic and a comment in particular was about Ward you ****cheese.

Address my post directly or go rant about GGG in one of your thousand GGG threads.

In that same time frame, GGGs best opponents have been Murray, Geale, Macklin and Lem. All were legitimate world level middleweights AND 2 were current or former champs, you can say Murray and Macklin were champs too who got robbed v Sturm. GGG annihilated almost all of them.
Murray couldn't beat an injured martinez. Who has admitted himself to have 2 injuries in that fight. He's also a pillow puncher.

Geale got ktfo by lil cotto

          Macklin got ktfo by heiland

Lemule got outboxed by alcine and stopped by rubio

Brand was not Ward's first choice.

He was just the one that took the fight.

Nathan Cleverly was approached but didn't want it..Erik Skogland accepted then backed out when VADA was mentioned.

I'm ok with tune ups. Obviously every fight can't be the best v the best, i just laugh at fans defense of multiple tune ups for any top level fighter they are a fan of.

Why have 4 tunes ups when it can be made now after both came through their last tune up.

Both Cleverly and Brand are crap.

Both Ward and Kov had their tune ups and neither were injured. The fight is good to go so why as a fan do you defend more tune ups?

I love how people are trying to justify Brand by dragging Golovkin into this.

Brand is low ranked. (was 40, magically jumped to 25 when the fight was announced)
                    39 years old
Fights at SMW, 7 pounds lighter
Best win is a 80th ranked prospect

Even for a tuneup, this is absolutely atrocious. If Kovalev tried to fight this guy, the fight would not get sanctioned because he may kill him.

he had surgery to his shoulder last year...its not very smart to be as inactive as he been the last few years fight the most dangerous fighter near your size

add to the fact he moved up a division and has to get his body acclimated to that. Filling out and getting used to the class in sparring etc.

Its smart to have tune ups when you have been inactive to get a gauge on where you are and what to work on

Also I think HBO is trying to build the fight.....Kov isnt a household name, Ward isnt either but both are highly respected by fight fans, writers, and those in the know.....personally i think its a business move and has nothing to do with the respective fighters teams. The network wants to maximize $$$ potential
