Comments Thread For: Hearn: Eubank Says Golovkin Demand is No Joke, Wants it Next

The most interesting thing to me is what was mentioned previously about the fight happening in the UK. I would call BS if they demand that. Asking for it is just part of the game but if it's a deal-breaker then it's BS on Eubank's side. Were he a major title holder and a huge UK draw, maybe, but Golovkin is the man at MW and you can't expect him to take his belts to the UK for a guy who isn't offering much more than a name (and not a big name)Comment

I'll wait until after Eubank fight this weekend. This could be Hearn and Eubank Sr. using GGG's name to promote the fight this weekend.
Sure would be nice if the WBA stepped in and did what they said they would do if the Canelo-GGG doesn't happen, which it isn't.
Ggg fans have been consistently dismissive of this and I think it's because they like to claim that no one wants to fight him. The Eubanks have a lot of pride and I don't doubt Chris would take him this fall. As I've said before, if he fights on HBO in America, even a loss will help him so long as he gives a good fight. If he's insistent on it being in the UK, I doubt it happens.
The same ****ers who claim Suanders is a bum will claim now claim Eubanks is the best GGG has fought. GGG fighting the guy who beat Eubanks is a waste, but we are supposed to believe the haters will give GGG credit for beating a guy with no wins above domestic level. Pfffft!Comment

You're right- Motorcity Cobra pointed it out earlier in the thread. I thought Eubanks Jr. had a better resume. Murray clearly has a superior resume.Comment

We're dismissive of him because we know he's not serious, and that the haters won't give GGG any credit.

GGG/CE would make me happy. It's not going to change Golovkin's rep overnight, but without Canelo, Sanders, or Lara happening, it's the best fight he can book this Sept at 160. I'm reasonable enough not to criticize a guy for taking the best fight available. Especially at a time when we have some of the best in the world (Kovalev, Ward, Wilder, Loma, Rigo, Garcia, etc) fighting guys who are well below their level.Comment

I used to like Eubank Jr, he is fast, athletic, with good head movement and combinations, but he gets hit a lot when focuses on attack, with bad footwork, and doesn't have the pop, i don't know why, but he lacks power even tough he is and strong athlete with fast punches.Comment

He is not better than Murray. Murray has contended on the world level. Eubank hasn't competed above the domestic level. And when he had an opportunity to compete for a portion of a world title he choose the British title.
Good on Eubank if he takes the fight. But let's not act like a guy coming off O'sullivan, Blackwell, and Doran has fought the level of competition that Murray has.
Murray is solid but unspectacular. I've been more impressed by Eubank in recent fights. Younger, fresher, quicker, busier. Hits harder too, in my view. Yes, he swerved the Jacobs fight to compete for the British title, but he's only 26 and now targeting the number 1 fighter in the division, a far superior force than Jacobs. So I tend to see the decision to go the British route was to get that coveted British belt, build his name, get more experience, before launching an assault on the world scene.Comment

"Eubank Jr. would be GGG's best opponent other than Lemieux (IBF champion at the time) and maybe Murray." I think also Willie Monroe Jr!Comment

Yes, no argument that Murray has fought better competition (Martinez, GGG, Abraham, now Groves). But is he better than Eubank Jr? Now? I don't think so.
